JT Abergwaun hotel

Bij aankomst na onze ferry-overtocht bleek dat het hotel onze vooraf verstuurde melding over de late check-in niet had beantwoord, wat voor wat onzekerheid zorgde. Gelukkig konden we uiteindelijk nog terecht. We werden vriendelijk ontvangen door de kok, die ons hielp met de koffers en een drankje aanbood een gebaar dat we zeer hebben gewaardeerd.

Helaas hield de positieve ervaring daar op. Wij verbleven in de bovenste kamer, wat voor mijn partner, die mindervalide is, erg lastig bleek. Er was geen lift aanwezig, en de trappen waren moeilijk begaanbaar. Wat betreft de kamer: • Het tapijt was niet schoon en maakte een onverzorgde indruk. • De nachtkastjes waren niet afgewerkt; knopjes ontbraken. • In de badkamer moest je in het bad douchen — dit was voor mijn partner ronduit ongeschikt en onveilig. • De wasbak was los aan de muur bevestigd en wiebelde. Voor een accommodatie die zich presenteert als een 4-sterrenhotel waren deze gebreken ronduit teleurstellend. De hygiëne, afwerking en toegankelijkheid lieten te wensen over. Daarnaast was er geen ontbijt inbegrepen, ondanks de relatief hoge kamerprijs. Kortom: de verhouding tussen prijs en kwaliteit klopt hier niet. Het hotel zou meer aandacht moeten besteden aan hygiëne, inrichting, mobiliteitstoegankelijkheid én communicatie vooraf.

No reception. Had to let myself in and out. There was no staff there some of the time. No breakfast available.

on arrival we went into the receiption area - no one there - so we went to bar / restaurant area where a young lady showed us our room - she was very polite and told us if we needed anything to contact Dan the owner - he is staying in the building i mentioned secure parking was mentioned in the booking.com page - i wanted to securely park my motorbike for the duration of the stay - the lady seemed confused but then suggested an option which consisted of me parking it in a outdoor lane/ corridor which had a security gate on it - at least my bike was safe. the place was nice - clean - cosy but the toilet seat was broken - the toilet flush button was also broken but could still be used but once used unless manipulated allowed water to run constantly in the toilet making it uncomfortable with the noise. we sorted ourselves and planned on eating in the hotel restaurant - we went down to see could we and found the whole place closed up - no information was given regading it being open or closed - or about if we wanted to book breakfast as we were room only but planned to add breakfast. So we found a local Indian Rest. which was excellent - but there is not a lot to choose from in this area on a Sunday Evening. the batteries in the remote for the TV were dead, by the time we found this out there was no one about so i replaced them myself. overall thestay was satifactory - we had a long 4-5hr drive on the motorbike and the room did thejob before getting the ferry the next day.

The price I paid included breakfast. When I checked in, I confirmed with the person who checked me in, that breakfast would be at 8:00am. Dining room was locked in the morning when I came down at 8:00. Waited till 8:25, tried ringing the only number available - and left messages. Received no reply, nor explanation. Very dissapointed with this level of customer service.

Our Ferry from Rosslare arrived Late in the evening so we appreciated someone staying up so we could check in. The bed was really comfortable. Room and bathroom were clean. Didn't eat there but the menu looks good.

There was an alarm going off from about 8am and nobody on site to switch it off. Needs a bit of TLC and a lick of paint. Rooms have marks on the walls, toilet seat was just about hanging on and the flush button wasn't there anymore. Walls were quite thin could hear someone talking in another room until gone 1am. 4* Hotel seems a bit of a push.
