Surfpoint Sri Lanka Kite Village

Nice place to stay right at the beach. In winter season advanced riders can start directly in front of the restaurant. In summer you can either go to the lagoon or they organize boat trips to different spots depending on the wind conditions. Storage available as well as rental equipment (kites are mostly Moto and newly unbranded kites). Food is decent. For a bigger variety you can easily go to a few really good restaurants nearby (e.g. Windy Waves, Moms Kitchen). Kalpitiya is still a quite basic, laid back place, so don’t expect a buzzing life up there. It’s all about kiting, dolphin or whale watching or scuba diving. Of course, you can explore the island from there, too. The rooms are quite distinct. On the upper level you have really high ceilings and some rooms are equipped with a second level and extra beds. Every room is stocked with an attached bathroom (Sri Lankan style, meaning shower is the bathroom). Service always friendly. Especially the kite guys are amazing! Supun thank you 1000 times for bringing my kite upwind 🙏🏼Guests were really welcoming as well, actually felt like a family there. Airport transport available for an extra free(~85$ per ride) As everywhere in Sri Lanka be prepared for a lot of flies during the day and mosquitos in the evening. Also there are two really handsome dogs 🐕 in case that matters. However in Sri Lanka, there are dogs everywhere anyway.

SurfPoint Sri Lanka is a really cool spot to spend time, to base from for kiting and/or to take lessons. I did lessons and the quality of the instruction was outstanding. The hotel is comfortable and has a really nice common area where people hang out, eat, and talk story about the day’s adventures and have a laugh. Nevertheless, the hotel is nice and quiet for sleeping. The value is excellent, the food is good and competitively priced, and the staff are wonderful. I highly recommend SurfPoint Sri Lanka, and I plan to return.

Very comfortably spaced out, great views, simple yet superbly functional rooms, courteous and efficient staff, fantastic surf shed & instructors, good local knowledge of the best surf spots and when to go where.

The beach is really nice.

We came off season just for the beach since we don't kite. Besides us there were not many other guests. The staff upgraded us into a better room, which was extremely spacious, well equipped and super clean. The patio is nicely made and gives some space to work out and relax. The hotel is directly at the beach and also within walking distance to other beach restaurants and bars. The staff was very friendly.

In comparison to Mirissa the offered whale tour was too expensive for us, so we couldn't do it. Since the hotel only accepts cash, notice that there is no ATM in the village. Kalpittiya has an ATM, but is an 1 hr walk away. The city of Kalpittiya is not worth a visit

The location is perfect. Great sea view from the restaurant. Spacious, comfortable, and very clean rooms. Highly recommend!

Quite place in the north. In outsession nobody there and a lot closed. So nice to have that spot. Thanks.
