Stayed for 3D2N. The room on the first night was good, but I was very disappointed with the room on the second night. The room fragrance was too strong and lingered inside the room, making it uncomfortable. The staff were friendly and tried to resolve the issue, but there was no follow-up to check whether the problem had been resolved. After staying in the room for about 1.5 hours and finding that the smell was still present, I decided to check out at 5:00 PM. The Duty Manager, Ms. Nenny, was kind and tried to offer an alternative solution only after 1.5 hours. But the point here is too late. The room water pressure is low and slow.

Strategic location to view Mt KK. Hotel restaurant gave a good view too. Location of the hotel is just outside Kundasang town so not too crowded. Close to Mt Kinabalu national park.

Water hand shower not flexible. No enclose shower area. Mattress is also old and soft

Responsive and helpful staff. Their recommendations on which room to choose so as to reduce noise was spot on. Nice room and balcony. Blackout curtains were helpful. Enjoyed the food in the restaurant. The amenities provided in the bathroom smelled great. I was impressed by the build quality: despite being constructed of wood, the building structure was solid, with hardly any creaking. We stayed at another guesthouse in Kundasang and the creaking floors kept us awake. The gardens in Mountain Valley were very well kept by a pleasant and friendly gardener.

Ridiculously steep and poorly designed entrance path. Anyone elderly or with physical issues will be unable to get their luggage into the building. This needs a major design retrofit. Even a manually operated cargo winch might be better than nothing. The bathroom sink only dispenses cold water! This is ridiculous, not to mention uncomfortable. Wifi was unstable, at least in our room. The location of Mountain Valley is debatable: it's bounded by roads on all sides so there's no pleasant walking. More importantly, the only attraction it's close to would be the Kinabalu National Park. This is great if that's your main focus, but everything else would be an additional 15 minutes drive tacked onto your journey.

The outdoor area was fantastic in having the mountain view. The room and bathroom were spacious compared to another resort we went to. The balcony area was good as we could see outside. Convenient location. The receptionist was good in communication and flexible in checking in. Thank you!

The bushes had overgrown and we couldn’t see the view as seen in the photo. But the publicity photo could see a nicer view. A little disappointed. The bush should be pruned. The cafe and restaurant had very good views. It would have been great for the cafe to have more offerings of food instead of just cakes and coffee. The restaurant food was just average. A pity that the food didn’t match up to the views of the mountain.
