"Excellent stay"

10.0

Staff were very accommodating. We were a group of 13. Stopped for 3 nights over New Year. They had us seated together for breakfast and every evening for drinks. Extremely helpful with all our questions. Location was around 20 minutes walk to town, which was great for us. Free parking. Clean, comfortable rooms. Couldn't fault our visit.

Nothing not to like.

The staff were very friendly and my room was large, well furnished and spotlessly clean.

I had a couple of issues with the food. My porridge on the first morning was cool and very thick. On the second morning I specifically requested hot porridge and it was very nice. One evening I had to send back my meal as it was cool when served (salmon with prawn and white wine sauce). It was heated up and brought back to me very promptly. My room was uncomfortably hot as the heating was on full when I arrived.

"Nice staff, shame about the breakfast"

7.0

A warm welcome, plenty of free accessible parking, large en suite room, double aspect windows, the room was cosy and warm, historic nature of the building and garden setting. All the staff we encountered were friendly, jovial and helpful and that is the strong point of the hotel. We would stay again.

The breakfast offer for the price paid is extremely limited. There were no cereals, fruit, yogurt, pastries etc to accompany the meal. No extra toast was offered and the meal choices were strictly limited to what appeared on the menu. There was the option to purchase additional items but for the price paid we expected these to be included as an option. The scrambled egg was clearly cooked in a microwave and was dry and the toast under toasted. The avocado and hummus dish was small with just smears of avocado and hummus, the avocado didn't look like it had been smashed recently. We also had a portion of chips in the evening with drinks at the bar. They didn't arrive for some time and we had to remind them of the order. When they appeared they were lukewarm and very overdone. The hotel clearly accepts walk ins for breakfast and their menu is more extensive than the guest breakfast menu which leaves one with the feeling they value the former more than the latter.

All the staff were really friendly and polite. The breakfast was really good. The afternoon meal was lovely but the potions are small.

The bed was very hard. The internet was poor
