The Atholl Palace

Beautiful grounds and building.

It’s a little tired. Service lacks a little attention. We asked for milk to be brought up to the room twice and neither time it came.

Location was fabulous as were hotel amenities, staff were friendly enough with entertainment on Friday and Saturday very good, the hotel museum and film showed we loved the history, the hotel though is in some need of TLC

the breakfast times on offer with 9.45am latest, but bang on 10.00 breakfast buffet gets cleared away, surely 10.15 clean up would be more appropriate

Check in was smooth and front desk reception members were polite and helpful. Breakfast was included and was decent; beds were very comfortable. Grounds were pretty, though not nearly as extensive as I'd thought from seeing the photos. This hotel prides itself on catering specifically to Americans, and I think by that they mean that unlike most European hotels, they have washcloths available, which was nice.

The comfort level of this hotel was less than your basic motel- but two or three times the price. No air conditioning, and some of the days were hot. The shower had no water pressure- it was literally just barely dripping out when we tried to use hot water. Cold water provided a tiny bit more pressure, but still negligible. While the front desk personnel were courteous, the rest of the staff was surprisingly discourteous. My family waited over 30 minutes at the bar for service, even though they'd twice flagged a worker down to ask for help. There were very few people in the bar area, and abundant staff that were mostly hanging around chatting. It was very strange given that all throughout Scotland, we met the kindest, most helpful people- except here. All in all- simply not worth it!

Breakfast was excellent

I was given a suite with exceptional views and facilities. When the lock to the door broke, the staff went out of their way to take care of us until maintenance could repair the door. Food was great.

I cannot think of anything that wasn't exceptionally well conceived and executed.

Tiny room & shower was non existent

Great location and beautiful views and walks around the castle.

Rundown rooms, no WiFi in the rooms during our whole 4 nights stay (in either of the 3 rooms booked) asked several times to fix. Discrete breakfast. Poor value for money.
