Altana Heritage Suites

At Altana, we experienced everything we had hoped for in Santorini. From our room, we could enjoy a breathtaking golden sunset, and just by going up to the shared pool area, we could watch a magnificent sunrise. Our private pool was perfect — I was initially worried from the photos that it might feel too enclosed, but in reality, it was semi-sheltered in the best way. It offered enough privacy while still feeling open, making it ideal to use even under the strong midday sun or in the cool evening breeze. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. As someone who loves traveling and has stayed in world-renowned resort destinations — Bali, Hawaii, the Amalfi Coast, the Maldives, and the Bahamas — I can honestly say that, both in terms of value and overall experience, Altana easily ranks among my top five stays. Choosing to stay in Imerovigli, rather than the busier Oia or central Fira, was also one of the best decisions we made. During our trip, we often walked between the hotel and the Fira bus station — about 20 to 30 minutes each way — and the stunning scenery along the route made every walk peaceful and memorable. (If you’re older or prefer convenience, I’d recommend taking the bus instead.) Thanks to the thoughtful assistance of the Altana staff, we had some of the best meals of our entire Greece trip — including Athens, Meteora, and Delphi — all just a short walk from the hotel. They also helped us adjust our itinerary perfectly to the local conditions, such as hiking time to Oia, visiting the Red & Black Beaches, and exploring Pyrgos. If my family or friends ever visit Santorini, I would wholeheartedly recommend Altana to them. And if I ever return to Santorini myself, there’s no doubt — I would choose Altana again.

We loved the setting, laying by the pool watching the sunset, we felt like we were above all the crowds and on top of the world! Imerovigli is a beautiful quieter place to stay and Altana Suites are perfect. You can walk into Fira and there are lots of restaurants nearby. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, and we made use of the communal pool. There is a great little restaurant/bar that also looks out over the caldera and the sunset. Breakfast with a view on the terrace every morning was stunning and the staff were the most friendly and helpful of any hotel we’ve been to! They helped us book transfers, excursions (the sunset catamaran was incredible!!) and meals, and made the start of our honeymoon better than we could have hoped!

We couldn’t fault anything about our stay here.

It was quiet. It had beautiful views. There was excellent service. The icing on the cake was the breakfast on the veranda.

Location perfect- caldera views, highest point in Imerovigli and great sunset views. Room lovely. Views amaaazing. B’fast fabulous. Staff extremely helpful.

I loved everything. Just some suggestions- a coffee machine in the room, larger robes (for non- skinny persons), maybe slight heating of the communal pool.
