Hotel Posada del Río - Chile Chico

Welcoming staff

Slightly overpriced hotel considering its limited facilities and comfort.

Breakfast was adequate, but dinners were very good. Staff were very helpful and in great to relax with a drink in front of a roaring fire in the evenings

Hotel is a little too far from town centre for walking - our transport or taxi essential.

Hotel is beautiful and quite comfortable. Rocio met us when we arrived and helped out in our planning of what to do and see. We would go back just for Rocio. If you are planning to be in Chile Chico, go 5 minutes out of town and stay here. If you are not going to Chile Chico, plan to go and to stay at the Hotel Posada del Rio it is truly great.

Proximity to border, although town is only 5km away so this was not a big plus.

No sound-proofing: Noise from above, next door and restaurant until midnight. Door in corridor separating restaurant from rooms made a loud scraping noise. Shower temperature could not be regulated (super hot then cold), toilet smelled, loose room door handle, floor transition strips loose. High priced restaurant. Contacting the property directly we were quoted a much higher room rate (same type of room) than reserving on Booking.com (which we did). Usually this is not the case. We have been traveling for 5 months. Owner (or manager) arranged a “local motorcycle specialist” (small town, so he knows locals better) to assist us with collecting one of our touring motorcycles broken down 16km from town. Guy wanted US$200 which we felt as seriously overpriced.

Good and clean rooms. Decent breakfast. Convenient location, very close to the border with Argentina

Restaurant (for dinner and breakfast) is okay. With a few simple tweaks the quality of the breakfast and dinner can be improved.

Location was good Windows to the outside were large and much appreciated as the room was warm The upstairs open are with couch was really nice for relaxing with the family. The chef was accommodating for a large group dinner which we appreciated Breakfasts were good - they gave us fresh cherries which were superb.

Nowhere to put bags or suitcases in the room. You have to put them on the floor which is inconvenient and messy. The bathroom shelving was broken so nowhere to hang damp towels. The shower curtain was so thin it was like cling film and tore immediately then every time we took a shower it stuck to us and water leaked on the floor. Then nowhere to hang damp stuff made it challenging.
