I love small platteland town old world homely comfy and clean! This was all of that and more. Not glitz and glam… just genuine and earthy and made more so by ABOVE AND BEYOND hospitality!! Thank you Elsabe!! Your service… your warmth… the warm fire… and your undivided and sensitive attention so much appreciated!!🙏

Exceptional value for money and highly recommended. The quaint and well-kept hotel exceeded our expectations and we would definitely return. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was equiped with large fluffy towels, luxurious bathproducts and a decadent bathrobe. The Fat Fig restaurant offered a good selection for dinner and the breakfast hit the right spot with wonderful home made bread. Elsabe is a gracious and welcoming host and an asset to this establishment. Well worth taking the turn-off to Klaarstroom and discovering this hidden gem.

There was nothing to dislike.

The man, apparently the manager's husband served us at the bar and was one of the most unfriendly people I have ever encountered. When we needed a refill, we had to walk to the bar and ask him. The dinner took two hours to prepare although the manager told us that that its food from the previous day. By that time, I was so hungry as we did not have lunch preparing us for the Karoo feast. The dining room was empty, and we sat down to have dinner, the portions was so small, I had some droë wors in the room. Then the lady came in and served another couple at our table that we did not know at all. It was really embarrassing. They told us that breakfast is served at 8, and the next morning we found out that they only open at 8 and then they will start all the burners and make the food, so we left without any breakfast as we had 10 hours' drive to our home. The poor honeymoon couple said that if they eat at 8 and leaves at half past 8, they will be able to drive to their home in the daylight. I do not know what time they had their breakfast. When we arrived at the small town the previous day, we saw a shed, padstal which was closed. I asked the manager about the padstal and what do they sell. She told me they only sell rubbish, and it is not worth stopping there at all. I mean it is such a small town, with 5 houses with permanent people in, and I think that she was supposed to promote the padstal. It is my choice to see if the padstal is full of rubbish.
