Comfortable room. Nice cosy fires in public spaces. Very accommodating staff.

Breakfast was dissapointing. Expected coffee and fruit juices to be included but were billed as extras. Not all ingredients were availabke for meals ordered

There is not an extensive menu, understandable for the area as shopping is no doubt an issue, but the food provided was EXCELLENT - kudos to the Chef for providing such a good meal - the biggest chicken schnitzel I've ever seen. Like the town and the setting, the peace and absolute quiet of the karoo and the closeness to De Rust, Prince Albert and the Meiringspoort. It was a treat to find the restoration workshop masquerading as a coffee shop just down the road - the things you find off the beaten track. Both well worth the stop-in if you have time whilst driving past.

Unfortunately nothing can be done about the design of the building! It would have been nice to have a mountain view from the rooms, but back in the day when the hotel was built, that was not a selling point! It was nice to sit on the verandah at the front of the hotel and look at the mountains and sip a sherry in the evening and in summer it must be lovelier. And then there are the grounds with the pool as well for summer.

Highly recommended. Wonderful service and friendly people. They spoiled us - always a lovely fire to warm us in the dining room and lounge. The food was exceptional.

Friendly and helpful staff, spacious and clean room and bathroom, good food served, watching rugby with the locals and having a BBQ meal
