Klaarstroom Hotel

We decided to stay at the old Victorian Klaarstroom Hotel (1874) based on the good vibes we experienced having lunch there about nine months earlier. The hamlet of Klaarstroom by its nature is a quiet place, somewhat off the beaten track, en route between Prince Albert and De Rust. The staff is gracious, attentive, and welcoming. The breakfast cooked to order was excellent, as was dinner. The bar is made from the hardware and boards of an old trek wagon. The entire place is of well-preserved, tidy, and attentively cultivated old Karoo elegance and ambiance. We would definitely stay there again.

My only mildly negative recollection is that it took the hot water of the shower a while to come up, which is not at all unusual in our experience of older hotels.

We stumbled on this gem, a very quaint old-school hotel. Staff were wonderful and professional, food was hearty and generous. Loved our stay!

Lovely hotel and surroundings. Some staff were friendly and very attentive (but not everyone)

The staff make up their own hours and some made us feel in the way of their off time. Had dinner with them and 2 plates was excellent and 2 very disappointing (ordering what they recommended) and after complaining about it, the staff just laughed.

The hotel takes you back in time, and is an absolutely wonderful stop over for a night or two. Amazing breakfast, friendly, accommodating and helpful staff.

Frances greeted us at reception with a very welcoming and friendly attitude. Overall she and her staff were fantastic! Curry lamb stew was a winner!
