La Paris Estate

The staff and service were brilliant.

For that price ecebthitn was amazing expect the shower in the morning it took to long to get warm and wasn’t enough pressure I really had to stand under shower to get some water really disappointed

Everything about the property was beautiful and very friendly staff.

Nothing

The room was spacious, with a well-equipped kitchenette and huge, luxurious bathroom. The garden was very private and we were very appreciative of the room upgrade. The Bistro on site is fantastic, with a lovely menu and very tasty food.

Our stay was unfortunately marred by a lack of attention to detail. We stayed in the middle of winter, and quickly discovered that the air conditioning unit was not working in heat mode and only blowing cold air no matter how high we set the temperature. We were chilly, but also because our stay was so short we didn't want the inconvenience of either having to move to another room, or having maintenance workers intrude. Luckily the underfloor heating in the bathroom took the edge off once we turned it on (it would have been a thoughtful touch if this had been turned on prior to our arrival as the room was freezing). We also discovered late in the evening that the geyser had not been turned on for us, so we had no hot water. We were able to turn it on ourselves as we discovered the geyser switch was down on the electrical board, so I can only assume the geyser was turned off while the room was unoccupied and they forgot to turn it on for us. So we had hot water by morning, but I didn't get the evening bath I'd been looking forward to! There were other small issues that were not critical but annoying - the doorbell was broken, our evening meal was delivered with missing elements so we had to call back, and the Dstv remote didn't work unless you went right up to the tv. It was also disappointing to see the beautiful hotel grounds were looking quite unkempt. We reported all of the issues to the gentleman who checked us out, but he was quite unconcerned and didn't even offer so much as an apology. All in all, it's a lovely hotel, but definitely feels as though standards are slipping a little and our stay was quite uncomfortable as a result. We unfortunately won't be returning later in the year as we planned.

Franshoek is beautiful!

The furniture in the room was dirty and looked like it had never been cleaned. The room smelt of mould and the outside of waste.
