I wanted to pay using my standard international Mastercard credit card, but was required to enter an OTP rather than a 4-digit PIN? Very strange - result was I had to pay cash. I’ve used this same card since in a hotel, to obtain cash - and also before. If asked for anything - has always been a 4-digit PIN.Just a problem with Malee hotel.

For me the beds were just a little too firm but they're like that everywhere in Southeast Asia so I'm getting used to it now

NLGBI love Malee Hotel and this was my third stay there. The staff is so friendly and attentive - I was travelling solo and my birthday fell during my stay, which I didn't tell anyone. When I came back in the afternoon after a day of visiting temples, I found a lovely birthday card from the staff in my room, together with some chocolates - what a sweet, sweet gesture! Thank you Malee staff, you truly made my birthday very special. The room is spacious, quiet, super clean and with all the equipment you need (hairdryer, refrigerator, shower gel...). Bathroom is spacious, shower water is hot and the aircon is very effective. The location is also perfect if you enjoy exploring the town on foot while staying in a quieter part of the old city. The reception staff go out of their way to arrange activities, day trips or even just an airport transfer for you. I travel to Chiang Mai every year and have stayed in many hotels, but Malee is my go-to now, I don't look anywhere else. Perfect stay every time.

USThe staff was so lovely, they helped us with anything we needed and there was always fresh fruit and a coffee machine in the lobby that you could help yourself. The location was excellent; across the street, there were 2 cafes where we ate breakfast or grabbed a midday coffee and many bars and restaurants were just a short walk away. We went during Songkran so the streets were lively all day but the hotel still felt far enough away from the action where you could rest properly.
There were a few seats outside that you could sit in but I would have loved maybe a couple of small tables and chairs to sit outside and have a coffee or a snack.
