The Chase Golf & Country Club

The location was great, as we were going to a concert at Cannock Chase Forest, so we drove and it didn't take long at all. We chose a room with a balcony, although we didn't really use it as there were a lot of birds around so we were wary of them. There weren't many staff around, probably because it wasn't a standard hotel, so it's difficult to rate the staff etc. However, the lady on reception when we checked in was friendly and helpful. The bedroom was large and comfortable. The shower was okay, although could do with a better showerhead. All in all, a good stay.

When we went for breakfast there was a table of guys who were fairly loud, they were obviously golfers owing to their conversation. However, they did get really noisy and were quite rude during the conversation. I felt quite uncomfortable and we left as soon as we could.

Lovely setting with good countryside views around the golf course. Comfortable room with king-sized bed. Friendly professional staff. Good food both in the bar and at breakfast.

There is nothing really to dislike. Maybe slightly plumper pillows would have been nice.

Brilliant choice for overnight rest. Quiet and beautiful setting overlooking the lake, lawns and trees. Accommodation furnished to a high standard. Excellent evening meal in Golfers' Lounge. Very comfortable beds. All staff we met were smiling and helpful. Special credit to Charlie in Golfer's Lounge. Location was great for us travelling from Wolverhampton to Mansfield, passing through the heart of Cannock Chase.

The food was delicious - room was comfy and the facilities were great.

It was a shame that the driving range and gym both shut at 6pm at the weekends.

Great Breakfast choice and good portions. Juices could do with improvement though. Location was OK but may be a little remote for some.

A little bit soulless from a reception perspective - no one seemed to be around after 6pm and in the morning. If you had a problem it would be difficult to report!
