Austria Alpinhotel Ski IN Ski OUT an der Edelweissbahn

Die Lage ist super neben dem Lift, das Essen (Halbpension) war gut.

Die Ausstattung des Hotels ist zwar teilweise erneuert, weist aber teilweise Gebrauchsspuren auf. Der Boden im Gastraum ist leider alt und häßlich.

I have to say that I am quite disappointed. Me and my partner went there today for lunch/dinner, and I ordered a spaghetti and he has a burger. My spaghetti was over salted, the meat smelled weird as if it was days old and there wasn't enough sauce so it was just soo dry. My partner's burger wasn't cooked properly and the meat also smelled weird, it definitely wasn't fresh and he he's had a sore stomach since we've been there. We told the waiters that we were unhappy, and they apologised but didn't even offer a discount and we had to pay full price although we both ate like 50% of our dishes.. maybe even less. Anyways, we are both disappointed and do not recommend.

The hotel ski room exit is about 5 metres away from the nearest chair lift - no that's not a typo! For skiing convenience this modern hotel is unbeatable. It's literally right on the piste below the centre of the resort. The whole ski area is easily accessible from the hotel. When the lifts aren't running it's a 10-15 minute uphill walk to the resort centre. There is a skibus stop about 5 minutes level walk away on the main road and buses run every 30-60 minutes. The skibus runs from Radstadt station to Mautendorf through the centre of the resort. Both these small towns are worth a half day visit if you want some time off skiing. The ski bus is free to lift pass holders. The Obertauern ski pass also covers the Grosseck ski area near Mautendorf. The hotel was spotless. Our room was bright, quiet, modern and clean with a comfortable bed and generously sized shower. The restaurant service was excellent. Breakfast was good but I agree with a previous review that the evening meal probably suits continental tastes better than English ones...but you are in Austria! Most of the guests come from countries adjoining Austria. There was a lovely terrace outside and an enclosed bar overlooking the piste. A word of caution. We booked through a firm called Ski Zoom in Bristol. It transpires that they'd used Booking.com to book the hotel and had not booked with the hotel directly. This caused some unfortunate difficulty at check out when the hotel claimed we hadn't paid. Although the matter was resolved it was unsettling because we had assumed Ski Zoom had a direct relationship with the hotel. They hadn't as was made clear to us by the hotel who told us that they do not deal with tour companies.

This hotel is a hidden gem in the middle of a beautiful town in Austria. You have to cross a short part of the ski slope to get to it due to it being ski-in, ski-out, but there is a really helpful and friendly man (member of staff) with a skidoo who will come across from the hotel to get your luggage in a matter of minutes. He also lets you get on the back of the skidoo if you don't fancy walking across the slope which is an added bonus for any adrenaline junkie like myself!!! The inside of the hotel is warm, friendly and immaculate. It is run by a lovely family who will listen to any enquiries and will always say hello if you see them and ask if everything is going okay for you. The rooms are spacious and clean and the views from the rook are amazing. The food is an acquired taste but lovely nethertheless and there are plenty options to choose from. The kids menu is good too!! Through the back of the hotel is an apres ski bar which is very popular and next to the Edelweiss chair lift where you can watch the skiiers coming down the slope and onto the lift. At the side of the hotel is a ski-in boot and ski room with boot warming racks which is easy to access from inside and outside the hotel. There is also a lovely sauna, gym, relaxation room and sunbeds in another part of the hotel which is brilliant after a full day skiing. The town is a 5/10 minute walk up a bit of a hill and has more hotels, shops, spar and ski hire shops. The ski in ski out feature of this hotel is what steals it for me though as it is so handy and takes the pressure off having to walk back to a hotel with your skis or snowboard. The staff are funny and kind and will always joke around and smile whenever you see them. The location in terms of skiing is brilliant with slopes for all different abilities and 2 different ski schools for children or adults. There are 2/3 fun parks and 2 different challenge routes to ski which are good fun to complete. There is a mixture of chairlifts and gondolas but all are clean and almost always working. After going to this same hotel 3 consecutive years because I can’t find anywhere better, my overall opinion is that this hotel is absolutely brilliant for anyone who is looking for a relaxing, yet quality skiing holiday. Definitely would recommend.

We visited for a beer. The beer was stale. We told the waiter. He said that we were the first ones to complain. He wasn't interested and walked away. A second waiter came to take payment and we told him the beer was bad and said there was nothing he could do. We were disappointed.
