La Fora Ecolodge

Location was excellent

I just felt the breakfast could have been better. I arrived at 09:00 and the food was cold.

La Fora Ecolodge is an idyllic location with a great view to the sea, perfectly clean and beautiful bungalows, a quiet and peaceful scenery, not far from the capital Sao Filipe (you can walk there in 1 hour) and a nice swimming pool for a relaxing stay. I also enjoyed the fresh juices and freshly made tasty dinner.

The shower was not warm (it is solar) and the staff could smile a bit more often. The women are helpful but not very welcoming. I also found the tour packages overpriced for single travelers. I paid almost 200 Euros for a trip to Cha das Caldeiras, an unguided hike at Mount Velha and a swim at Salinas. I DO NOT recommend the guide Maiuca who works for Eco Lodge. He didn't explain me the hike properly, there are no signs and no locals around to ask. I almost got lost and tried to reach him, his phone number didn't work, only internet did. In the end he charged me 60 Euros more for "giving him stress" driving around and looking for me. The guide got free meals and drinks in the tour, I didn't even get a water bottle for free. Eco Lodge should better consider their cooperation with some of the guides.

Everything was perfect, it is a beautiful spot and so relaxing the only issue were the spiders in the room, there were quite a lot.

The location, it was very quiet and it really is like an oasis on the dry and barren Fogo. We loved hearing the birds sing and we loved looking for the birds, the insects, the grasshoppers. The bed was very good and the bungalows have a very nice veranda where you can sit and listen to nature. The dinner is very good (to be honest, it was a bit too much... the plates are really full) and the area around the bar is very nice to sit and just look at the direction of the sea.

Two things: 1. We have stayed here 5 nights and there is hardly any variety in the breakfast. Five days the same fruit, the same scrambled eggs, the same (white!) bread. I don't think it's very hard to put some variety in it. Make a different kind of egg (or ask what people want), put some brown bread and I understand that you have fruit from your own trees, but maybe buy on 2 days in a week some fruit from the market. Five days the same was too much for us. 2. The hot water, we had perfectly hot water in the first 2 days, then it stopped, the waterpressure was also very low to nothing. The sun was there all day (so the solar power should be enough) and there were no more guests then the first two days. We asked and suddenly the staff didn't speak english anymore (they did when it comes to other fun issues). We didn't get any explanation about the water, they kept on showing us the QR code and yes, we have read this, and yes we understand if there is not so much sun or if there are many guests, but that was not the case. It would have been nice to get an honest explanation, now we felt everybody was running away from it. But please let this not keep you back from booking this (more than) lovely place on Fogo!

After a long tour of Cabo Verde, it good to relax in the high of Fogo. Swimming pool, nice campaign around. Very peace full. Very comfortable bed. Nice and cool place. Efficient team. Thank u every body.

Perhaps propose a washing clothing prestation.

Excellent lodge in a great setting. Food was also great ! The room was small but functional, and we didn't have any problem. Wifi was excellent.

Since it's an evolodge, there were a lot of bugs, which I didn't mind, but one of my kids didn't appreciate.
