"Cold in the Great North"

The hotel is very big. The facilities were appropriate for the conference we were attending.

It was fall and there was no heat in the room. When we arrived, the AC had the room temperature at 63 degrees. The nights were chilly and no matter what temperature we set the thermostat it would not switch to heat. There were only three bath towels in a room with two queen beds.

"Think twice..."

I hate to do this, but it's deserved. I'm not a prickly-pear traveler, but some expectation of brand status recognition and cleanliness is expected. Upon check-in, FD associate was average. Assigned my room, but nothing more. , He didn't explain available eating options, concierge room/club availability, location of elevators, etc. General information is always nice upon arriving and wouldn't take much effort. (I still have no idea if breakfast was served, or where.). This is a rather large hotel, so the hike to our room was long! Our room was on the third floor, but seemed basement level with only egress-like windows. It was very dark and dank. One side of the window was opaque/condensation filled. The room overlooked an unkempt, overgrown area. The bathroom floor had obvious clumps of hair!🥴 The toilet paper holder was hanging on the wall. The toilet seat was broken. There was mold on the shower curtain. There was scum behind sink faucets. I could scrape it off with my fingernail. The drinking glasses were very obviously used. Housekeeping didn't even attempt to pretend to clean them. There was dried leftover drink in the bottom of the glasses and a demarcation line of the last guest's drink. There were glass rings on the nightstand and table. The outdoor pool area was a mess. The chairs were in disarray. There were cans, water bottles and garbage around the perimeter. There were used, discarded bandaids on the pool deck. The pool steps and handrail were slippery and slimy. The grounds of the hotel are unkempt, weedy and need attention. This property was remodeled 2 years ago. It seems the proprietor of this property takes little interest in maintaining it. This was a leisure stay for me. I hoped to enjoy the pool for much of my stay. I was so repulsed by the state of my room (the hair mostly 🤮), I took off much earlier than planned. Side note... special requests before check- in went unanswered. Needless to say, I won't be back nor will I recommend.
