Toucan Lane

We stayed at this cozy hotel and loved it. The atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming, with freshly made beds and crisp white covers that made the room feel clean and inviting. The owners were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. I liked that the owner was personally painting all the walls—it gave the place a very warm and personal touch. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious every morning—definitely a highlight of our stay! It’s also a perfect spot for bird watching; we saw so many beautiful species right from the property. The location is great too—only about a 40 minute drive to La Fortuna, which made for a great day trip.

The hosts , Simon and Joanne were awesome, very helpful with information during our stay, Breakfast was amazing and we enjoyed talking with other guests over morning coffee. Loved the view of the rain forest and the abundance of birds visiting the courtyard area,

Super friendly on-site owners helped us find cool attractions to visit. The restaurant was excellent. A favorite was bird watching right out our windows. Comfortable beds. Not overly "fancy". I would definitely stay here again.

This is not a hotel and restaurant, the restaurant is completely separate and not where you have your breakfast, this is effectively a guest house and you are very much staying in a room on the owners property. The breakfast is basic at best. We felt incredibly uncomfortable given this, the constant smell of cigarettes and several comments from the owners, including calling my partner ‚boy‘ and making suggestions that we could skinny dip as no one else was around when of course the two owners and their son were right there. I won’t go into more detail as this is the owners home and I don’t want to hurt feelings but they need to be honest about what they are offering so that guests can decide whether or not it’s for them, as for us we left first thing the next morning, had it not been for the darkness and rain after a difficult 5 hour drive we would have left straight away.

Toucan Lane was such a lovely stay for our family of four. There is a lot of heart and soul that goes into this place. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I loved having a king sized bed. The views were equally amazing. I loved watching the birds from our deck. Jo and Simon were amazing hosts and treated us like family! They are knowledgeable about the area and always available to answer questions and make recommendations. The funky monkey restaurant next door served up fantastic food! We loved everything about this place…. Beautiful location, comfortable and a lovely pool to swim in and enjoy with pretty hummingbirds zipping all around!

Absolutely everything! The house is incredible, Simon is an extremely good host and a great company for beers&chatting, AND THE PUPS - we absolutely loved the pups 🤍
