"Freezing rooms!!"

6.0

On Tuesday 30th December 2025 we attended our sons wedding at the rabbit hotel. Everything in connection with the wedding went smoothly and according to plan. The reception room was spectacular and the food was great. A number of guests had taken advantage of a discounted room rate and booked an overnight stay ( still in the region of £200 per room) My wife and I along with other wedding guests booked the Lake House which had 5 double bedrooms ( just over £200 per room) The house had a lovely setting on the edge of the small lake. Everything was fine until we returned to our rooms around midnight after the wedding. ( the coldest night of the year ) The rooms in the lake House were freezing. We had our one year old granddaughter sleeping in our room. There were two vents in the floor from which warm air should have blown through. On checking these there was a slight amount of cool air coming from them. The en suite had a large towel radiator on the wall. This was also stone cold. We foolishly though the heating might come on soon and surely it will come on in the morning. It did not. The whole house was freezing. I phoned reception on my mobile as the phone in the kitchen was not working. The person I spoke to said he would pass it onto the manager who was due in shortly. We all got ready and went for breakfast. I called at reception and eventually spoke to the manager. She apologised and stated she would send someone down when we checked out. I pointed out that that was no good to us. We had paid big money to stay in a freezing room and house, with a number of small children. I asked for some sort of recompense but none was forthcoming. She did say she would speak to the bride and groom. It turned out that the majority of wedding guests who stayed in the hotel had the same problem. The rooms were freezing. Not good for such a high profile hotel. When we returned to the lake house after breakfast at around 11am to collect our belongings, to check out, the heating WAS ON . Again too late for us. It seems to me the timings for the heating were all mixed up. This should have been checked before guests arrived at the house. Still everyone had a great day at the wedding, just a pity the freezing rooms put a bit of a downer on things.

"Pricey but worth it"

10.0

Staff were all really nice and friendly, particular shout out to Joanne that remembered our names from booking last minute. She made us feel very welcome on arrival giving us xmas drinks and snacks. Our room was called a lux room and it was amazing. Great view of lake. Cool decor. There was even a full decorated xmas tree. They left us 2 mini bottle of baileys as a present on the door xmas eve. Loads of little nice touches like that. We had the do not disturb sign on our room from xmas day on so they didnt leave our xmas presents in the room, but they gave them to us on check out....it was little things like that..... I wanted something in the bar from the spa restaurant menu and they obliged. Then i wanted room service, but I wanted something that wasn't strictly on that menu and again they obliged. So I can't praise the staff enough tbh. The food itself was very nice. It could be argued slightly small menus. But what I did eat was really nice, so I'd rather that than a bigger menu with lower quality. The spa i found was great. I really liked it. There might have been a couple of small things but you can easily forgive them as the staff were all so nice and friendly. The place is not cheap and I can understand people sayingbprices are high for what it is. But you get what you pay for here. Overall you shouldn't go cos that might make it crowded when we go back. Actually the place is terrible. Disregard everything I just said ;)

"Did not feel welcome"

Not impressed with service in bar area or variety of food on offer. Focus of waiter was more on staff training than attention to customers.
