NIKARA Luxury Beach House

The design and location of the hotel are superb. Very nice scenic beach right in front of the property even though you cannot swim it's very beautiful. The design is really good and the garden of the hotel is amazing.

Unfortunately the hotel needs some restoration. There are things in the room that were broken like for example the door would not close unless you would lock it because it was too damaged. Also being in such a remote area makes it difficult to find restaurants and there where things missing from the menu. These all would be fine if the room was less costly but for 130$ a night this is not good. Overall I would say it was overpriced

The property is on a wild beach walking distance to village which we enjoyed walking through paddy fields chatting to local people it is off the beaten track and we loved the location. It is about 35 mins drive to yala main gate which is fine for safaris .The property has a lot of potential but needs attention .. being unable to swim in the pool is not good it was green and cloudy and got worse as the days went on . We stayed 3 nights .. didn’t use pool which was a shame .. big shout out to the chef . He went above and beyond he is kind and helpful and his food is excellent .. he really was exceptional

The pool was green and we didn’t feel comfortable swimming in it .. this is a problem for guests and needs attention . Also we had a room with pool backed onto a road so A little noisy … our villa pool also cloudy we asked staff to clean the pool which they did but this should be maintained for guest use

We had an amazing stay at Nikara. It’s in a beautiful setting - right on the beach and there is a lovely garden that surrounds the hotel grounds. It is secluded, but so nice and quiet because of that. Our highlight was the staff. They are all so friendly and hospitable, especially Kan Chan. The food was also the best we have had in Sri Lanka on our three week trip so far. The rooms have are lovely. We changed rooms to the bottom floor on our last night but probably preferred the balcony top level rooms. The bathroom was fine, and with a touch more ventilation it would match the high standard of the rest of the hotel. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and truly loved it!!

The location was the only upside to the whole property.

We booked a private villa with swimming pool. And this is what I have to say - 1. The staff was clueless. They were a bunch of kids - untrained and slow. 2. No room service. No phone to contact the staff. When asked about it they said you have to come down to the reception for your requirements. 3. The pool was extremely small. Filtration was off. We checked in around 5-6 pm and they refused to turn on the filtration for us saying they only do it at daytime. And at night there’s no light in the pool and around the pool area. So you swim at your own risk. 4. The food menu was too expensive. Nothing substantial below $10-$12. And they charge you for water also.

The staff are wonderful , it is super relaxed and a pretty location. They have everything you need. Massage, pool and peace! Really close to the safari as well.

Just needs some TLC, we stayed in the private villa which was great but needs a bit of a paint and updating.

Simply amazing place to stay not only for 2 nights as we did as our goal was to go on Safari but I’d definitely stayed for another few days, miracle beach, service, so calm, authentic and truly re-charging.

We were supposed to have some food ready to take away on safari which although agreed to by staff was not ready or seemingly part of their plans. To their credit they rushed to get some sandwiches, fruits and water together for us.
