NIKARA Luxury Beach House

The hotel was beautiful. Our room was clean and the aircon was great. The breakfasts were fabulous and all other meals were very tasty!! The grounds were kept very clean. Staff were friendly.

The hotel was a little far out but it’s only a short ride to town.

LOVED the proximity to the beach. The food is OUTSTANDING! Especially the coconut chilli samba, but EVERY dish was fantastic! Very big comfy beds. Lovely pool. Very peaceful, well-kept gardens too.

Our stay at Nikara was wonderful! We had the Villa and it was so peaceful. The staff is great, everyone is so kind and tries to fulfill all wishes. The experience was special due to the personalized attention on site – every evening featured Sri Lankan seafood dishes and every Morning traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. The accomodation offers some activities like Safari or visiting nearby Temples via TukTuk. Our Highlight was the Massage on the Beach during Rain under a roof- we can highly recommend! There Are some negative recensions here we can‘t really understand („sadly“ no parrot :) ). We would definetly come again, thanks for having us!

Nothing to complain

We stayed two nights at the ‘villa with private pool’ for our 25th wedding anniversary. This is not a ‘luxury’ hotel and the facilities listed in the booking.com information did not match what was available. The location is remote with only one restaurant within walking distance. The beach is beautiful, but there are no sun loungers or chairs available and the water is too dangerous to swim. It’s a nice sunset walk though. The pool was green, murky and had lots of leaves and bugs floating in it. The gardens are nice though. The outdoor massage area looked dirty and uninviting. The restaurant area is outside and has lots of mosquitoes which made eating there uncomfortable. The lunch and dinner was good. We also had breakfast included on both days but only had it once as we did an early morning safari on the other day. It was not good compared to all the other hotels we stayed at. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom only had a roof over the shower, not the toilet so there were lots of mosquitoes and the door to the bedroom had to be kept shut all the time. The private pool was tiny and again there were too many mosquitoes to even go outside. On the second morning, I awoke to find a worker had climbed over the wall and was cleaning the pool right outside the patio windows so I couldn’t get out of bed until he left. This is unacceptable. We also booked a full day safari through the hotel which was a bad idea. We were quoted $130 inc. two meals, then $140 inc. one meal, then $150 inc. one meal. Then told $130. Inc. one meal. At the end of the safari the driver charged us $143 with some made up conversion rate. I would not recommend this hotel.

Oasis far from the crowds. Exceptionally beautiful. Aura of peace amidst pristine nature. Seascape is dramatic. Service is superior. Food is excellent.

The beds were very comfortable and the hotel was very chill and the garden was lush, the staff were really lovely and made you feel at home and organised us a safari which was a nice touch.

There’s a parrot that waits for you when you leave your room and bites, my wife’s terrified of birds and she would fly directly at her when she left the room. The pool wasn’t super inviting it was a bit foggy and we avoided it. However there’s a lovely beach club next door so we didn’t miss out!
