The Firs

The lodge was cosy and comfortable. It was just as described on the website. The owners were thoughtful and friendly. They were around as their house was close by. The information folder was accurate and easy to read. There was milk, cereal, tea and coffee for the first day. The campsite was not busy but well laid out. The grounds around and outside were great for walks and the fishing lake was nice. We enjoyed the peace and serenity of the place.

We only had two nights there. Could have done with few more.

Very welcome and lovely people

A lovely tranquil location, hosts very friendly and accommodating, a lovely touch having fresh milk available on arrival. Thoroughly enjoyed fishing, on a personal level the environment enabled to evoke a lot of memories .. haven't fished for 15 years.. a fab place to restart! We will be back.

In fairness we booked for 4 nights and only stayed for one night so I can’t really comment

Linen and towels, loo seat wasn’t clean. Ambience lacking. Not good value.

Lovely quiet, serene place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and would recommend. We aren't anglers but loved watching the carp rise, and birds (loads of moorhens) after a couple of busy days exploring the area. The lodge is very clean and neat, and extremely welcoming. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

The hosts were wonderful, we felt very welcome and safe in their property - they even left us milk for teas and coffees when we arrived. The lodge itself was perfect for us, surprisingly large and spacious inside and with everything you might need for a stay. The whole property was very clean and well looked after, and the bed was very comfortable. The location was great for us - we wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing, and The Firs delivered. Ticked away down a winding country lane, The Firs was full of wildlife and vibrancy, despite the less than ideal weather, and super peaceful and quiet. The local pub, The Kings Head, is a 10 minute walk away and the food and service were delightful.

The bed and linen… lumpy pillows … I went and bought a new one for 2nd night ….. duva too hot and blankets only single …, perhaps a fan for warmer weather ? Small mirror in bathroom .. No hair dryer
