Hotel Trópico Monteverde

We had a lovely stay here! Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff is amazing- so friendly and helpful with booking things. The property has an amazing view. We highly recommend Hotel Tropico!

Very nice custom wood, room size, bathroom, parking lot, not too far from city center, friendly staff. Coffee with breakfast was great.

Room has basically no privacy, anyone walking by can look into your room unless you close all the curtains, which defeats the purpose of the view. The view you pay for you can't see most of the time as it's musty/foggy all day. No reception area to hotel, you check in with the restaurant staff, and go to the wait staff if you need anything. I was left at the property alone with no staff or guests every night. Wife felt unsafe being in the room, random cars pull up to the lot at night and then leave after a few minutes , not sure why. No safe in the room. No AC or heater, room was cold throughout the night and floor was very cold. No dehumidifier, room was muggy all day and clothes wouldn't dry, which was a problem because it rains and all my clothes were wet. No help carrying bags to the room. Lots of the staff don't speak English. Offered complimentary breakfast in exchange for my paying cash, seemed shady but worked out okay, but the breakfast was not great, only person to help with breakfast only spoke Spanish. Told me to eat breakfast between 7 and 8:45, showed up at 7am one day and was told I came too early for her. No menu for the breakfast just eggs and yogurt are your options. She then cooked my food with the same gloves I watched her cleaning the floors with, with yellow cleaning solution stains still on them. She did this every day. If you have no car it's not walkable to the city center, you have to drive a few minutes.

This was our favorite stay in Costa Rica! The room was beautiful and had the most breathtaking view. I loved all the woodwork, the wood ceilings, and the full glass windows in the front. It was so relaxing to sit with a cup of coffee and read while taking in the views. Jose was the most welcoming host. He was so kind and booked all of our adventures in Monte Verde for us and even quickly changed our schedule when we wanted to spend more time at a venue. He was so easy to communicate with. I has the best massage ever on property. The property was close to town and all of our excursions. Monte Verde is the most magical place and our very favorite part of Costa Rica. Hotel Tropico was the perfect place to come home to in the evenings. We will be back for sure!!

The views are incredible, the restaurant is amazing, and the staff are the greatest part. They are so incredibly friendly. It’s reasonably priced. Admittedly, I’m quite picky and this place exceeded my expectations. This is our go to Costa Rican hotel from now on.
