Monkstadt 1745 Restaurant with Rooms

Einfach wunderbar!

A beautiful property seething in history. We were in the Alexander suite which was amazing. Furnished beautifully and supplied with all the extras and more that you may need 10/10

Unfortunately the kitchen was below our room and the staff had a radio on quite loud past 10pm which sadly detracted from an otherwise excellent experience

Prachtige plek! We hadden een gloednieuwe kamer, deze was echt gezellig. Mooi uitzicht, lekker bed. Het personeel is ook erg vriendelijk en neemt echt de tijd voor je.

Er is maar één menu voor het diner en dit is elke dag hetzelfde.

Unfortunately this visit did not meet our expectations. It was supposed to be the icing on the cake for our trip but it most definitely was not. From the start, the Manager on arrival was not very welcoming. I apologised that we would not be having dinner due to their only providing a taster menu. My husband has to avoid Vitamin K due to medication, so he needs to be able to make a choice. The Manager offered no alternative. With the hotel being very remote, choice of where to eat was very limited and we ended up having a takeaway burger. Very disappointing. We paid £703 for a 2 night stay with breakfast. View from our room was fantastic.

When we entered our suite, we found a kitchen area, obviously used for self catering guests. This suite was 60 to 70 yards away from the main hotel. It was well furnished with a comfortable bed BUT the patio windows were filthy, looked like a dog had slobbered on them. I wanted to warm the plates for our takeaway, the rubber heatseal was hanging off and the interior sides of the oven were greasy & dirty. NO milk was supplied. The bases of the bedside lamps were covered in dust. No bath mat was supplied for when you step out of the shower. The bathroom sink cabinet was badly chipped and in need of repair or replacement. The hot tub had dirt laying on the bottom, where it had not been cleaned after the previous guests. We had to eat breakfast in the Whiskey room, because of our dog, the window had cobwebs on it. For breakfast there was very limited fresh fruit, no yoghurt, no pastries or croissants, limited cereals, just muesli or porridge. The cooked breakfast was very good though. Very pad potholes on the drive, especially on the lower bridge. If someone went through it, even at 10mph, they could damage their suspension or tyres badly. We never did get milk...due to our room not being serviced on the 2nd day. Overall we felt we were treated as a self catering guest not hotel guests. Considering they use the word "luxury" we expected more. Very overpriced and not good value for money. We have stayed in 12 hotels so far on this trip to Scotland, this one is the only one we have given a poor feedback for. Definitely would never return to this place.

Beautiful highland home with interesting history, and a good location for “do not miss”hikes. Dinner was divine. Loved staying here!

Amazing and enchanting property. You look over to the west and see the outer Hebrides, while staying in beautiful rooms and a historic home central to the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie! Plus a 1000 year old monastery ruins in the middle of a drained loch just a short walk from the house. Amazing food, and such delicious local cuisine and ingredients! Thank you SO much to Ruta for making my stay magical, and showing me a path down to the beach to explore, swim, and see some fossils!
