The Golden Lion Hotel

Comfortable and clean and conveniently situated for our needs.

Quite a few stairs without handrails which I struggled with after having a replacement knee fairly recently. Also, quite a steep step to get into the bathroom with no handrail.

Bed. Comfy Room clean Small fan in room (weather very hot while there)

Lack of attention to detail of cleanliness eg bottom of mirror in bathroom had ? water splash area. Cheap plastic container in bedroom with tatty note stuck on it saying contains tea/coffee bits. No bedside lamps Breakfast tea coffee area scruffy, no cups, plastic container of Nescafe coffee Table mats looked old and chipped.

The hotel was well located in the middle of town. The staff were friendly and parking was provided. We had booked room only but breakfast is available extra cost there are also many cafe's and restaurants around. Beds were comfortable room is basic but clean.

The decor is a little tired. Our room shower was fixed and quite low so my partner struggled a little as he is 6ft. However we managed. The price was comparable to the other rooms of the same class in the area and we would stay again.

Not the hotels fault but the other guests were so loud and at a very unsociable hour. Didnt get yo sleep till after 4am

Location was ideal

Drinks very expensive in the bar.

Central location, nice old building. Staff were very welcoming both in the bar and breakfast room. We had a bedroom overlooking the Main Street and were supplied with ear plugs but didn’t need them . We had a mid week stay so don’t knock if needed then. Evening meal and breakfast were good.
