"Good Location, OK Hotel"

6.0

I stayed here rather by accident. My usual hotel was not available for my last nights and they found the Real for me. The room was ok with all the essentials The lack of mirrors was a bit annoying. The TV was old with no cable so fairly useless to me. The good thing was strong internet signal in the rooms. The bathroom was ok with warm water and good pressure in the shower. I did not like the lack of a chain or inside bolt for the door. I asked checkout time and was told 12 but when I pointed to the sign saying 1, she said, "oh, its 12 or 1" Luggage storage was not secure at all. A small room with the door left open and no security. To me, the best thing for the hotel is location. On the pedestrian walkway less than half block from the square.

"Cheap solution for not demanding turists"

8.0

Pros: 1) It is probably the cheapest hotel in the whole town 2) excellent location close to the Zocalo and many restaurants and pubs 3) we checked in at 8 in the morning and they neither did any problem nor charged us any supplement 4) you can aks to wash your laundry (12 peso per kilo) 5) you ve got a roof over you head and hot watter in the barhroom - this is what I normally expect from a cheap hotel and this is what I received in this case 6) I slept there the best in my entire life - greta bed Cons: 1) rooms are small and rather cold - you are provided with an extra blanket 2) you will probable read about a solarium on the roof - poor and scary 3) bathroom looks worse than a bathroom in my kindergarten in the east of Poland during communism but there is always hot water withuit limits ;) To sum up this hotel is an excellent solution for not demanding people prefering to spend their money on other things than nicely decorated four walls.

"Cleaning needs improvement"

6.0

At first sight it looked like a decent room with no frills. That was until we did a closer inspection and encountered tufts of hair at various spots in the room and the bathroom. Clearly this hotel doesn’t succeed for our bare-foot-test, which means consequently keeping on our shoes when walking in the room for the next couple of days. The room is damp, probably that is the case in most budget hotels in this mountain climate. There is nice hot water from the shower, sometimes you have to wait a couple of minutes before it gets hot. Don’t turn the shower too hard, it will make the drain overflow. The strongest point of hotel Real del Valle hotel its location just off the main square. There is good Wi-Fi, also in the room, though the dark room and the cold courtyard without seats are no inviting places to work on your laptop. It’s much more joy to bring the laptop to one of the nearby cafes with Wi-Fi. The hotel does not serve breakfast, but there are plenty of options in the area where you can have breakfast.

"This could have been ok"

4.0

The location of the hotel is great, close to the zocalo, market etc. The room was clean, but very cold. You can find better places for this price in San Cristobal. We had only one problem the day we left the hotel, the warm water didn't work in our room. Warm water nice to have in the cold San Cristobal, so I went down to ask and the receptionist said I should wait 5 minutes. After 15 minutes I went down again because it still didn't work. I was told again to wait longer. Than after a while it still didn't work went down again, they finily check the boiler etc and it should work after some minutes but it didn't. In the end we packed our stuff because it wasn't going to be solved. At the reception we asked for some money back because the warm water didn't work. And the girl from the reception finily went out of her chair to check it, found out it didn't work and offered us to take a shower in an other room (the rest of the hotel was more or less empty). We had no time anymore because the bus was leaving. Conclusion the staff was not very motivated or helpfull only whatching TV.

"Ok for the price but there are nicer hotels"

6.0

Hi we stayed here in feb 2006. the hotel is nice looking from the inside lobby but the rooms are small and it gets real cold there because like all hotels in the city ,it has no heating (be aware) we stayed one night and switched to Casa Margherita. Was slightly more expensive but was really worth it.

"Centrally located, private parking, COLD rooms"

4.0

Stayed here in Feb 2006. Located on the corner of the zocalo and very affordable (MXP 250 for a twin if I remember correctly), with private parking. Problem was the cold. We had a room away from the street, but also away from the sunlight. This made it a very cold stay, with 30 degrees Celcius / 86 Fahrenheit during the day, but almost 0 C / 32 F at night. Make sure the room gets some sunlight during the day to heat up a bit. Hotel has a roof-top with some chairs, offering a good look over the roofs and the at the hills around San Cristobal. San Juan Chamula is reachable by car in roughly 20 minutes.

"Could have been great"

4.0

This hotel is in a great location, near the main square. The entrance is pretty, the old part of the hotel being built around an attractive central courtyard. Rooms are reasonably priced. The man at the desk (the owner, I presume) was unfriendly and monosyllabic. He tried to offer us what looked like a miniscule single room for the price of a double. When we declared that the bed was too small for the two of us, we were grudgingly shown another room, more than twice the size of the original, with two beds. Thanks!!! The towels did not smell fresh and the pad thing between the mattress and the bottom bed-sheet was in need of a good wash. With a little more attention to the upkeep of the rooms and a change of face at reception, this place could be a real jewel.
