Pochote Lodge

Fantastic & truly peaceful place owned by a French couple. People working there are a great crew, happy & generous. The place feels serene with some kind of a magic touch. I highly recommand a stay!

The host Francisco is so friendly and great to chat with (in spanish). Our rental car could not make it up the road as its quite steep and has loose gravel (we had a 2WD geely gx3) but Francisco very kindly offered to leave our car in the parking lot of a nearby gated hotel and he drove us up and back down the next morning. The breakfast was traditional costa rican and very well made. The property was pretty and we saw keel billed toucans in the morning. The beds were comfortable, there was a small kitchen we could use and everything was very clean. Would recommend!

Such a nice place and nice people! Owners Pierre and his wife were very nice, Pierre a real gentleman. Most of our interactions were with the property managers, Francisco and Veronica. What can we say?! So warm and so hospitable, so helpful and innumerable laughs with Francisco. We didn't have a car, so Francisco picked us up from and dropped us at Liberia; also provided us with transportation to Rincon de la Vieja NP for 3 days. Francisco was very reliable, always on time and the costs were very reasonable. Large, tasty breakfast (eggs, gallo pinto, sausage and toast) with a pitcher of great fresh mixed fruit juice! Grounds and surroundings were a mix of nice gardens and natural forest - so many Neotropical birds! We definitely hope to be back someday!

Loved our stay here with our toddler. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was basic but equipped with everything we needed to prepare food (electric pan, coffee maker, kettle, fridge). The staff were very friendly. We don't speak much spanish so the Google Translate app was very helpful. The lodge is up a bumpy road, slightly out of the way but made it so peaceful! Breakfast was prepared for us in the morning, and another lodge up the road has a good restaurant. The town of Guayabo was not far away. We hope to someday return to this small, simple, comfortable and friendly place
