The Bull and Bush Hotel Kingston

Please don't stay here if you are expecting quaint English hospitality. The pub has been closed since before COVID lockdown. Has been particularly renovated to separate rooms but old furniture still remains including the bar, slot machines and wood fixtures. No-one to greet, check in is done via RING Doorbell and rooms coded to allow access! Room fairly clean but other areas left as they were when pub closed. Large room and shower. Coffee and tea facilities. No hangers in room but storage. Area surrounding hotel has building work and in a dead end. Price reflects standard.

Absolutely nothing!

We asked for an earlier check-in weeks before the staying and they never answered. We arrived at the scheduled time and they weren’t there. I needed to call them, wait for a waitress and go finally inside. We booked a room for two and inside we got just one towel, I needed to ask for another one and the reception was nothing more than a bunch of dismissed cabinets, like straight outta the garbage dump. Also, a man was asleep on the “sofa” there, he clearly wasn’t a guest. The mattress was terrible, like made of water and pins. No clean rules, dust was everywhere.

The staff were nice & honest. The room & bathroom were clean, and the bed was comfortable, with fresh linen and towels. Tv worked. Only 10-15 min walk to the centre of Kingston, and up to Norbiton Station.

Found out on arrival, the hotel was in managed decline and destined to be demolished at the end of the year,to make way for new buildings. So, the place is being managed but not refreshed. Sorry, no photos, it would have been too sad.

How quickly they changed our room

First room was terrible, bad smell

I am writing to formally request a full refund for our recent booking. The accommodation provided was not as advertised on Booking.com, and the conditions were wholly unacceptable. When our engineer arrived, he was shown not to the pub accommodation we had booked, but to a room in the Indus Guesthouse, which was never mentioned or advertised in the listing. This constitutes false advertisement. Further issues included: The rooms were dark and poorly maintained, with clothes left on the floor. An internal door connecting to another room was insecurely held together with a biro pen, compromising privacy and safety. The shower facilities were dirty and completely unacceptable. This property did not match the description or the photos on Booking.com, and if the pub and guesthouse are related, we would not recommend either to anyone. We therefore request a full refund for this booking due to: Misrepresentation of the accommodation Unacceptable hygiene and safety conditions Failure to deliver the service paid for Please confirm receipt of this complaint and let us know how you will process the refund.
