Huang Mountain Wangfeng Hotel

Owner was super helpful, he even arranged us a really cheap private transfer from train station to their hotel. He organized us a trip and gave us a map so we didn't get lost on the mountain. His mother cooked us great breakfast and dinner.

Hotel itself was fairly standard but the staff were fantastic. The night before my first day in huangshan the owner gave me a map and talked me through how to get into the national park, and what are the highlights to do there in the time you have - and in a decent amount of detail too. There's not a huge amount of English language content online so I found this incredibly helpful and really not something I have always experienced at other hotels in similar situations, so I was really happy with that. It's also a great location, only a 5-10 min walk to the main bus stop that takes you up the hill to the cable car / hike start point. Overalls good value for money too so I was happy.

Provably to note this isnt a hotel, its a shop downstairs and they have rooms upstairs.. it is a 5 storey building which isnt an issue if you travel with just a backpack. If you large baggage then you gonna have to carry it up 5 floors. Mattress is pretty thin not very comfortable suitable for those with no back issue

The location is superb for anyone wanting to go up the mountain (very close to the admission centre). The rooms were clean, tidy, and equipped with air conditioning, a kettle, towels and toothbrushes wtc.

The breakfast (meat dumpling soup) was perhaps a little too salty for my taste, but was otherwise enjoyable, and a good portion. As we were climbing up the mountain at a rapid pace on a hot and sunny day, the extra salt likely wasn’t an issue. (Nothing the hotel can do about it), but I would like to say that the river directly next to the hotel is exceptionally loud, so light sleepers may want to take precautions such as earplugs.

The host was extremely helpful. He arranged affordable transport from Huangshan North train station to the hotel (and back), made a plan for hiking the mountain with me, and helped with the many more questions I had. The hotel is only a short walk to the park entrance, so no need to take a cab in the morning. I booked 3 nights, but slept one day in a hotel on the mountain. That way, I could keep my luggage safe and worry-free, whilst climbing the mountain. I highly recommend staying here!

For the price, I can't complain. However, there are two things to consider: the mattresses are very hard, and the rooms are quite noisy. There's a lot of noise from the street, and the window might as well not have been there. But again, for this price, I can't complain about that. Plus, I was tired enough to sleep straight through.
