Uros Maya Lodge

We loved to stay with Lea, Mario and their family. They show you everything around the Uros Islands and give you a great insight in their life. The room was very clean with a nice view. Lea made us some warm bottles for the feet because it was cold outside. We can totally recommend to stay here!!

Beautiful location, you wake up in the middle of the lake.

Lake Titicaca can get really cold at night. Luckily they offer a gas heater with an extra charge, we really needed it at night and in the morning even.

Living on the floating island is an amazing experience! The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and, for a room on a floating island, the attached bathroom great! The couple were very nice and willing to provide help and support! For example, at night time, we were given hot water bottles to heat up the beds as it dropped below freezing at night. We requested a few additional services and they were very helpful. Breakfast was included in the booking, but we asked to be given lunch and dinner. We also asked for pickup and drop-off at the Puno port. Finally, Don Mario gave us an amazing tour: At first, he brought us to the area the reeds are growing and shows us how he harvests them as well as some other traditions and methods. In the second part, we toured the village seeing the school, kindergarten, and hospital as well as some traditional huts. The hosts were just amazing!

Everything was great, but, while the couple was upfront with the costs for the add-ons we requested (lunch, dinner, tour, pickup and drop off), this all added up and, as you have to pay in cash, you needed to plan ahead in bringing sufficient funds.

The location is incredible and Mama Leah, Papa Mario, Ivan and Maya couldn’t have done more to make our stay just amazing. Fabulous food, welcome and facilities. The tour was also brilliant! 🤩

Mama Lea and Papa Mario were very lovely and helped as much as they could! It was a very nice stay with a great accommodation and a super experience! they showed us around the islands and give us insights in their daily life! They took care of us at a very high level and supported us with goods that kept us warm during the night!

Mama Lea and Papa Mario were very kind and friendly though we can’t communicate to each other in Spanish/ English.

The transportation to the island was very pricey

This was the best memory of our family trip to Peru. It allowed us to taka a break from our hectic travelling and enjoy the low pace of the uros within the warmth of a family. From the pick-up to the warm arrival by our hosts, mama Leia was ready to make us feel at home. She cooked a delicious warm soup and warm bottles to heat the beds to sleep. The room looked like a regular hotel with comfortable bed, huge windows to enjoy the view of the lake and a bathroom with shower. The food home-made by mama Leia (our host) was nice and filling and most importantly made with so much love.  They family took us on a tour to learn about life at the uros and their traditions. We got plenty time to rest on the island enjoying the stunning scenery. It was time for our family to disconnect and was greatly welcomed.  We would definitely go back to this place ❤️ we promised we would.
