Hideaway Mountain Lodge

Nice lodge, but a bit outdated.

A bit pricey

The room was very clean and had everything you'd need. The bed was comfortable, and the towels were quite thick. The mini fridge has an actual freezer compartment which is very helpful. I did not use the pool or hot tub since I was just staying overnight. Breakfast is provided - you order the night before. Unfortunately I was unable to try it since I needed to leave earlier than the earliest time it was available. There is free coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies available in the lobby. The staff is very friendly and will give you a tour of the facilities at check in.

Unfortunately, the walls are really thin. I was in room 12, and I could hear everything the people next door were saying/doing even though they were not being particularly loud. It's very muddy in the parking lot and behind my unit, which would require boots if you have them. There's no cell service, and the wifi was not reliable at all - it kept cutting in and out, so if you need service, this location would not work for you. Getting there was a bit treacherous. It's really off the beaten path, which is nice if that's what you're looking for. When I drove there, there's a stretch of unpaved road, then you go down the private driveway/road. It was slushy/partially icy with deep ruts (at check in time). Luckily I was in a Honda Pilot with snow tires, but this would be pretty scary with a regular car. Going back up was slow going. However, on my return trip to the hotel in the evening most of it had been plowed, so there was just a thin layer of slush/ice which made it much easier. Just be aware that you need a good car to navigate to it.

Room and breakfast was excellent.

I absolutely loved staying at the Hideaway Mountain Lodge. The rooms are clean, the beds are insanely comfortable, and to top it all off, Mike and Carla are two of the most gracious hosts I've ever met. This lodge has the real feel of a true bed and breakfast. You are located in a beautifully secluded area in the woods, but not too far from Fraser and Winter Park. Breakfast is made by Mike and Carla every morning and they even accommodated my gluten allergy. The cherry on top is you get all of this for half the price of an Airbnb or a chain hotel located in the city. I highly recommend staying at the Hideaway lodge if anyone is ever staying in the area.

The rooms have perfectly working heat/AC but sadly (and understandably) the fireplaces in the rooms do not run anymore. It would've been an added romantic touch to the room but the location and service add to the charm and romance more than a fireplace ever could.

The hosts/owners are the nicest people, everything comes with a personal touch. Don't come if you are expecting a Holiday Inn, this is a hideaway.

The number one plus of the lodge was the customer service provided by Carla and Mike the owner/operators. As I told them at the end of my visit, their customer service model is the epitome of what customer service should be. They were friendly, extremely helpful and constantly present to answer questions. I am an afficianado of good customer service and believe in pointing it out when I see it. I highly recommend the Hideaway Mountain Lodge for a friendly, relaxing stay in the Winter Park area

The stay was enjoyable. 1 small downside was that normal conversations could be heard in our room from people in the pool area.
