Old School Lodge

The history of the hotel, and the appropriate decor from the school house used in the spacious great room with the huge fireplace. The bedrooms were huge with very comfortable beds. Everything very, very clean. Hotel was advertised as NO breakfast so such a nice surprise when we found muffins, danish, and granola bars upon our arrival.

Location…MAIN Street/ locally owned restaurants were about 10-15 minutes away, but there’s plenty of fast foods and stores within a 5 minute drive. The air conditioning was noisy and took awhile to get used to the sound.

The amenities in the room were awesome and unexpected! The room was large, very nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. If we visit Montrose again, we will absolutely stay here again.

We loved that it used to be an old schoolhouse and the decor was beautiful. Very clean and well-kept. I loved that Frank called me earlier that day to tell me there was an issue with one of the amenities. I really appreciated that he gave me a heads up instead of waiting for me to drive 8+ hours to the property to find out when it would have been too late to make other arrangements. Very courteous!

Exceeded all our expectations from the time of booking to checking out. Frank sent us timely and accurate information about the check-in process on the day of arrival and everything went seamless. The common area and the farmers porch were great places to hang out and chat with other travelers and share stories and experiences late into the night. The common area was superbly furnished with comfy sofas, tables and others inviting everyone to step out of their rooms and mingle. The room was beautiful and huge with I am assuming more than 20 ft ceilings with 10 ft windows which lit the room with sunshine all through the day. The furnishings were top notch, and high quality. I was initially worries about noise from the common area but the sound proofing was excellent and once in the room we couldn't hear anything from the outside. The room was very clean and immaculate and setup with all amenities.

Not a complaint or a concern but just a suggestion - It would be great to have a coffee machine in the common area and a water fountain.

It was quiet and clean. It was great having a washer and dryer to use. The small basket of snacks in the room was a nice touch.
