"Issues with the sewage tank during our stay."

4.0

The location is absolutely stunning. You are completely surrounded by nature and the decor inside the hut is really lovely. In response to the hosts comment I will reiterate that we paid in full for our stay and didn't ask for a refund and have absolutely no reason to make up the issue with the sewage tank. I think the passive aggresive response speaks volumes. This was a balanced review as we said the location was lovely but in honesty we had an issue with the sewage tank meaning that we couldn't stay for our second night. We travel for a living and know issues like this can arise unexpectantly and were very understanding. We weren't asking for anything in return. We sacrificed our second night in the hut at our own cost we just wanted to let the host know to fix it for future guests. The original payment didn't go through because we use a Revoult card for online booking as it is more secure (the card was only charged the day before we were due to arrive). It was seen as a suspicious charge and the card was frozen until we could confirm we had made the booking. We were travelling and messaged the host as soon as we saw the issue that we wanted to proceed with payment ( message wasn't sent at 4:09am it was due to time difference). It took 43 messages of the host being unable to figure out how to release the dates so we could rebook them. We asked was it possible to pay directly. There was no pressure. Eventually the host freed up the wrong dates for 3 days (we only booked 2)and we were told to pay for those and the 3rd date we could donate to charity despite us not even wanting to stay a 3rd night!! The host took full payment for the two nights we had booked and did not "donate this to charity". We were extremely complimentary about other aspects of the hut on our blog (which we provided for free to support local business) and our Instagram but were shocked by how the hosts acknowledged our concerns about this serious issue.

We had a major issue with a strong smell and gas coming back into the hut from the sewage tank. It was so bad and made us both sick so we couldn’t stay for the second night that we had paid for. We had to sleep with the windows open on the first night and were gagging brushing our teeth. The only emergency numbers we were given were U.K. numbers and we couldn’t access these as they were given online and we had no service out at the hut. We understand these things can happen and we weren’t upset just sad we couldn’t stay for both nights we had booked. We didn’t ask for a refund nor were we offered one. The most upsetting thing was that when we contacted the host it was claimed that there was no problem before we arrived and no problem after inferring that we had just made it up. As if you would sacrifice a night you had already paid for for no reason. Very disappointing experience. There was no immediate response to our concern of gas. Someone was only sent the following morning because the host "wanted it to build up". Nor was there a welcome pack on the kitchen counter with emergency numbers. Video taken immediately upon entering the hut confirms this. I think this is yet another attempt at gaslighting by the host. We have no concerns about the sewage problem being resolved but we would have concerns for anyone who books and has any issue and it can be seen how the host handles a problem with paying guests. They only seem to appreciate good reviews and not learn and grow from critical ones. We have travelled all over the world and have never had an issue handled so poorly or had the blame thrown back on us. The area is remote and understandably reception is poor and I'm sure the hosts have figured out hotspots for their own network but all networks differ and for us there was no signal there. An online welcome pack could not be accessed in an emergency.

Me and Jess Really enjoyed our stay, thank you so much. It was a hidden gem that we stumbled across and really glad we did now. Escape from the real world for a weekend. So peaceful, really lucky with the weather, we didn't even need to light the stove. The donkeys greeted us, we brought carrots. Everyone was happy. The hut had everything we needed and more. Thanks for leaving scones, milk etc very thoughtful. The journey in and out the country road with sheep laying on the roadside is a typical Irish scene you would see in a film. It added to the adventure. Local taxi firms who left us out even had a wee giggle to themselves. Couldn't fault it and who knows in the future could be back. Thank you.

I don't think you could find a more rural location if that's your thing. We loved the views, the comfort, the hut, the donkeys!! Lisa was very accommodating, it was the perfect weekend!

Just the directions, maybe a sign at the main road as the eircode wasn't accurate but this is easily fixed and didn't take from weekend!

If you love nature, peace and quiet, then this is the place for you. Nestled in the mountains it is somewhere you come to nourish the soul. Myself, my husband and our golden retriever spent 3 cosy nights here. We had everything we needed. The stove was so lovely in the evening and the fire pit too. The donkeys really made our stay, coming over to say hi every time they saw us. The carrots helped 😂 We left rested and grateful.

Nothing really!
