Backwoods Cabins at Susitna River Lodge

We loved the cozy, private, homey, and riverside cabin.

It was a bit of a walk into town when it was raining. We totally understand that they can’t control the rain but wondered if they could provide a bit of a shuttle into town 2 or 3 times a day. Another option might add a convenience/store in their office as the cabin had appliances to prep meals.

Open year round, clean, neat, even borrowed board games.

Back woods cabin should not be on the main road leading to town…that is not back woods. No power back-up. I realize you cannot control the weather but having a backup system someday is a must. It got very chilly in the cabin before we left and we needed to use flashlights to get ready to leave. 5 minutes before we left the electricity came back on.

So quiet, cozy, and peaceful. A great spot for pets with a reasonable pet fee. Beautiful views from the river on the property, close enough to walk to town, and a lovely reception area with games, books, and DVDs/DVD players you can borrow for your stay. We LOVED it.

Almost everything

Micro fiber sheets and blankets. I prefer not to sleep wrapped in plastic.

The cabins are roomy and the location is nice.

The WiFi was terrible, slow and sometimes didn’t work at all. Also no TVs.

Our Backwoods Cabin was amazing! Beautiful grounds and cabins right on the river.
