Backwoods Cabins at Susitna River Lodge

Location, staff, amenities - everything and everyone there were fantastic! Cabins were well stocked, very comfortable and clean. The sound of the river was so nice to enjoy. We absolutely loved our time there - it was the best place we stayed while in Alaska by far, and in my opinion, also the best in Talkeetna!

The only thing we didn’t like was the train going by with whistle blaring at 5 am, but that is not something they can change as the train runs through most of the town lodging area. It didn’t bother me as I slept thru it, but some of the family were startled awake and then went back to sleep. :-)

We loved the privacy of being in our own cabin. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need and beds were comfortable. The view was amazing and we would love to stay again.

The location is amazing and cabins are very comfortable with good amenities. Views of the river and mountains AMAZING!

However, the sheets to the pull out couch we dirty.

Beautiful property and cabins . The cabins were clean and well maintained, had a relaxing time.

Lovely little cabins right on the Susitna River and about 1/2 mile from town . We stayed 2 nights Would go back - Very comfortable stay !

Not a thing

Our cabin wasn’t on the river but was very close

No breakfast provided. The cabin was clean and was up to date. Very close to Talkeetna. Although we were not traveling with children, there was a playground directly across the highway that would be nice for those who are traveling with children. We arrived ahead of the regular check in time and they made the cabin available earlier for us.

We are a retired couple who shared the cabin with another retired couple. There was one couch in the living room area that two of us could sit on. The other two had to sit on dining chairs. It would have been so much nicer and more comfortable if there had been a love seat or a couple of cushioned chairs. There was adequate space for it. We could not get connected to the Wi-Fi unless we did it from the office area and then went to the cabin. Then each time we left the coverage area, we had to repeat the process. It got to be too much of a hassle to keep that up and we just used our regular phone service to access the internet.
