Santa Juana Lodge & Nature Reserve

This is what you want from Costarica! Up in the Jungle 40 Min aways from Quepos city. Living in a family managed small Nature resort. The views and jungle sounds you experience in the cabins you cant buy with any money. You will see more birds than in any of the parks you go. The road up to the lodge is a fun adventure as well. You can stay in a jungle view or jungle/ocean view. Food - locally sourced ingredients. I could give 11, 12 or even 100 stars. Ariel, Allan - two brother who managed it - most welcoming awesome ticos👌. Tours - 2 km walking distance - waterfalls with amazing swim. 40 min drive to Spices Farms - real cinnamon and vanilla. Owner of the place - is a sample of the Pura Vida life style, taking and giving back to the nature.

Expérience formidable, authentique, beau et paisible. Ambiance Pura Vida. L’équipe était vraiment très agréable, et serviable. Je reviendrais sans hésiter lors d’un futur séjour au Costa Rica.

The views are absolutely mesmerising and the room felt like true luxury but in a cosy 70s kind of way

Beautiful location perched on a hillside overlooking the jungle with distant views of the ocean. We did the morning birdwatching tour with Allan and saw an incredible diversity of birds. I highly recommend even if you are not a birdwatcher. Relatively easy hike to river and beautiful waterfall. Overall an amazing experience.

L’équipe sur place est génial et à l’écoute. La manageuse Alison ne l’est pas.

19 km séparent l’hôtel de la route principale : un long chemin en pleine forêt, sans aucun réseau, totalement isolé. Les 11 premiers kilomètres se font sans problème, mais les 8 derniers sont une véritable catastrophe. Trous énormes, bosses, boue faisant patiner la voiture, arbres tombés sur le chemin, tas de terre en plein milieu de la route qui obligent à passer sur un espace minuscule, au bord d’un ravin… Je n’ai jamais autant stressé de ma vie pour accéder à un hôtel. Si vous êtes au Costa Rica pour quelques jours seulement, avec de nombreuses activités prévues, ne perdez pas votre temps. L’annonce indique 40 minutes de trajet, mais comptez une heure. ⚠️ Route extrêmement dangereuse sous la pluie ou de nuit.

Die Unterkunft liegt mitten im Grün und es ist ein friedlicher, überwiegend ruhiger, grüner Ort. Die Menschen dort sind hilfsbereit und freundlich, die Häuser sind gut ausgestattet und sauber. Der Empfang war herzlich und das Frühstück und Abendessen frisch und liebevoll in der offenen Küche zubereitet. Man kann dort tolle Unternehmungen vor Ort mit Guide unternehmen oder zusammen landestypische Gerichte unter Anleitung kochen. Es ist eine überschaubare Anzahl von Gästen und dadurch wirkt es insgesamt sehr familiär.

Man muss ggf. mit Stromausfall rechnen, der auch schon mal länger andauert. Aber das liegt ausserhalb der Verantwortung der Lodge, es gab als Lösung im Essbereich einen Generator und dort konnte man zum Beispiel sein Handy und die Powerbank aufladen oder bei Licht etwas spielen. Es kommt halt drauf an, was man man draus macht.

The lodge offers beautiful views over the mountains and over the Pacific Ocean. There‘s plenty to see in the local village of Santa Juana, from wildlife to beautiful waterfalls where one can bathe in. The food is deliciously prepared freshly by the staff everyday. The staff are absolutely fantastic. Everything they do is made with love, and you feel this as a guest. Many of the staff are related to each other, and they make you feel like a part of their family as well during your stay. We’re very grateful for having stayed here and experiencing the local culture and landscapes. I‘d strongly recommend booking this lodge. An SUV is a must to get to the lodge, a 4x4 even more so.

Posto incantevole. Personale gentile ed accogliente Buona la colazione e la cena. Appartamento molto confortevole. Strada di accesso ben percorri ile con 4 x 4. Transfer da Qquepos offerto a 95 dollari. Bella l"iniziativa di far piantare un albero alla partenza per ricordare l'importanza della natura per la nostra esistenza. Hanno un mpatico ed iinnocuo cagnolino.
