Santa Juana Lodge & Nature Reserve

Au milieu de nulle part après 40 minutes de piste (4x4 obligatoire) vous arrivez dans un endroit en connexion avec la nature. Il y a tout le confort nécessaire , mobilier simple mais rien ne manque. Le diner et le petit déjeuner sont excellents , le personnel adorable. Vous pouvez admirer à perte de vue des forets incroyables. Posez-vous , écoutez , admirez et ressourcez vous. Nous avons passé notre dernière nuit au Costa rica dans ce lieu magique et toute la famille a apprécié.

Fernab von jeglichem Stress. Hervorragend um die Natur zu geniessen und Vögel zu beobachten. Sehr schöner Wasserfall welcher zum Baden einlädt. Das Personal war super nett und hat bei allen Anliegen Hilfe geboten.

The drive to get to the Santa Juana Lodge was quite an adventure - about 40 minutes up a dirt road, through a few villages, winding through the rainforest, up the mountain. Once we got there, we immediately could see why it was worth the drive! We arrived just as the sun was setting and got to see the sunset over the ocean from their restaurant. Allan, our host, is amazing! We were highly impressed with the sincere hospitality we received from the staff. Most of the people that work at the lodge are from a local village of 10 families and most everything we had for breakfast and dinner were all locally grown! Our room was a spacious 2-bedroom cabin with a kitchen and full bathroom. All the windows in the cabin are screens. We had a fantastic view of the rainforest and ocean from our back deck. Keep in mind, this is a cabin in the middle of the rainforest, so expect a couple additional 'guests' in the cabin - we had a couple of geckos staying over (but we left them, as we figured they would help keep the bugs at bay). The Santa Juana Lodge and staff are very eco-friendly and are very focused on maintaining the ecology around them. The staff gave us directions to a nearby waterfall, where we were able to swim and jump off ledges into the pool at the base of the waterfall - so cool! When we checked out, Allan took us down by the entrance for a small tree-planting ceremony. He gave us a tree to plant, took a family photo, and will send us a certificate to commemorate our small contribution to helping the rainforest! It was a very cool, and sincere touch to our experience there.

It's a long, bumpy drive to get to the lodge, so just prepare yourself for that - you need a 4WD/AWD vehicle, especially if it rains. Whereas the cabin was great, there were just a couple minor maintenance items (like light bulbs) that needed some attention. Also, there's a nearby rooster that needs someone to talk to him about acceptable times to start cock-a-doodle-dooing! But for being in the middle of the rainforest with a full kitchen, flushing toilet, and WiFi in our cabin, it's hard to complain about some very minor issues. :)

Wir können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Der Ausblick von den Lodges ist atemberaubend. Wir haben jeden Tag Tucane gesehen. Das Hotel wird von den Dorfbewohnern "Santa Juana" bewirtschaftet. Das Personal ist super hilfsbereit und unglaublich nett. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

The staff was awesome, as were the views. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the area and its wildlife . Very clean property inside and out. We felt at home right away. Highly recommended and we hope to return.

I'm sure this is beyond the property's control but the access road requires a four wheel drive.

Spectacular views, brilliant people, very warm and welcoming. Kids had a great time. Route definitely needs 4 X 4.

Our stay was amazing. We read a lot of comments about the road beforehand, but it is actually perfectly fine if you rent a 4x4, and the drive itself is very beautiful. The accommodation is even more stunning in real life than in the photos – it truly feels like a fairytale to wake up here. The staff is incredibly friendly, and especially Ariel and Alain made our stay even more special. They are extremely knowledgeable about nature. Alain knows everything about birds and showed us so many during dinner. You can really see that this is their passion – they have a smile on their faces all day long and nothing is too much to ask. A true hidden gem and highly recommended. Please note that the nearest supermarkets are about an hour’s drive away, so make sure to bring some snacks and wine with you in advance. The food mainly consists of rice and beans, but if you ask, they are happy to prepare other options. The meals are simple but fine. The property also has a beautiful private park (even more impressive than some national parks), with a waterfall you can jump into and several stunning hiking trails. (We can definitely recommend the massage — she came to our cabin and it was amazing.)
