EYA Ecolodge

Our 3-night stay at the only one basic but tasteful cabin of EYA Ecolodge felt like a real privilege. This ‘off the beaten track’ location gave us a real authentic Costa Rican experience. After the challenge of the unpaved mountain access road (try to be there before dark!), we found ourselves in a tranquil large farm garden with very diverse flowers, trees, crops and birds alike. Run by a very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable family of three, this place is a secret heaven for lovers of nature and birds. Every meal (breakfast/dinner) was a prepared by Yuri with love and creativity and was a surprise feast for the eye and stomach. Esteban’s knowledge of the local bird species and his crops (mainly cocoa, coffee), gave an extra dimension to our visit. The conversations with the whole family, including daughter Abby, are unforgettable. As a bird photographer myself, I highly recommend this hidden gem to all birders.

Absolutely quiet and peaceful place surrounded by nature, trees, birds, the river. A beautifully designed cabin with a large, cozy bed. Incredibly welcoming and friendly hosts and the best food we had in Costa Rica, authentic, nicely presented and very delicious.

Die Ecolodge liegt ruhig in einem wunderschönen Tal. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste von Esteban und seiner Familie und wurden sehr herzlich aufgenommen und sehr lecker bekocht. Wir können diesen tollen Ort nur wärmstens empfehlen. Man kann sich die Umgebung gut erwandern und man sieht viele Vögel.

Mon fils et moi venons de passer un séjour absolument enchanteur dans ce véritable coin de paradis isolé ! Au milieu d'une nature luxuriante, nous avons été accueillis par une famille d'une gentillesse incroyable.Esteban a un magnifique verger, une véritable merveille ! Et que dire des repas ? Sa femme Yuri utilise ces produits frais et bios pour concocter des plats tout simplement fabuleux. Chaque assiette était une œuvre d'art, magnifiquement présentée, et tout était fait maison, un régal pour les papilles ! Notre chambre était également pleine de charme, avec une décoration choisie avec beaucoup de goût, créant une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante. Nous recommandons vivement cette adresse à tous ceux qui recherchent une expérience authentique, au calme et en harmonie avec la nature.

Rien, si ce n'est de ne pas avoir pu rester plus longtemps

We loved everything! Estabano and Yuri were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. They were extremely knowledgeable on the local plant and animal life - we learnt so much! They took us on a local sugar cane tour, a hike to see a local waterfall, to see the sunset and so many more trips - they really made us feel like part of the family. The food was phenomenal - some of the best food we have ever had!

Our stay at EYA Ecolodge was very special. The property is located in a rural area accessed via a gravel road (4x4 recommended). We stayed in a comfortable bungalow on Estevan's small Eco farm . We had a comfortable bed, and privately positioned terrace. It was a lovely quiet and peaceful location with a beautiful garden full of colourful birds, including toucans and hummingbirds and many large butterflies. Estevan is very knowledgeable about the area and generously offered his time to show us around, and took us to a lovely fresh waterfall where we could swim We enjoyed fantastic homecooked breakfasts and dinners. Our stay at Eya Ecolodge made a perfect relaxed start to our trip to Costa Rica. The genuine level of welcome and comfort made feel more like we were staying with friends or family. A really authentic stay with no other tourists around.We wished we could have stayed longer and we certainly hope to return.
