From the elephants drinking out of the swimming pool, to the beautiful rooms, fabulous game drives, delicious food and lovely staff we had a fantastic few nights at Black Rhino. A special thanks to Ross the manager and Ailsa our safari guide who both went the extra mile for our family. A huge thank you to every member of the team.

There is nothing I could fault

Hi everyone, I’d like to start this review by saying a huge thank you to everyone at Black Rhino Lodge. Every person we met made us feel not like clients, but like friends. It was a truly unique experience. We spent a week at the lodge and went on 14 game drives, each one different from the last. Guided by Cameron, our incredible field guide, we learned about the Big Five, birds, antelopes, plants, survival in the bush, how to read animal behaviour, and so much more. We were lucky enough to see the Big Five, including the black rhino. Buffalo had not been spotted in the area for some time, and we were advised to keep our expectations low. On our final morning drive, Cameron chose to remain in an area where he suspected they might be nearby. To our amazement, there they were — a huge herd of buffalo moving quickly across the landscape. Just like that, we completed our Big Five sightings on our very last drive. It was unforgettable. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. They were especially welcome during an afternoon of heavy rain, when we relaxed between game drives and enjoyed a leopard documentary on the large TV with Netflix provided by the lodge. Housekeeping was impeccable throughout our stay. The food deserves a special mention. It’s difficult to choose a favourite meal. We enjoyed buffet dinners in the tent, à la carte gourmet dinners on the deck, and traditional Boma evenings. Everything was delicious, varied, and beautifully presented. Breakfast and high tea were equally impressive. Seeing elephants and hippos visiting the lodge’s swimming pool was surreal and added to the magic of the experience. Thank you again to everyone at Black Rhino Lodge for making our stay truly unforgettable.
