Black Rhino Game Lodge

Het personeel is ontzettend aardig, de kamers zijn ruim en het ontbijt is erg goed!

Er was wat miscommunicatie, eerst met onze boeking (wat netjes werd opgelost) maar dat gebeurde vaker. Verder verbleven wij 3 nachten, waarvan we 2 avonden buffet in de avond kregen. Wij zijn geen fan van buffet dus dat viel tegen, omdat de foto’s en info op booking a la carte lieten zien. Misschien hadden wij net pech qua dagen..

We came for a few days at the end of our trip to South Africa and for my birthday. It was a wonderful experience that we both very much enjoyed. Each evening we went out on a shorter game drive (about 2h), stopping for a drink and snack partway. Each morning, we went out on a long game drive (up to 5h), again stopping partway for a drink and biscuits. Clifford took us out on our game drives and he was very knowledgeable, telling us about the animals, birds and plants that we saw. While out on our game drives, we saw elephants, lions, a cheetah, rhino, hippos, giraffe, zebra, impala, wildebeest, a leopard tortoise along with many birds and some other smaller animals. The drives take place across the private Black Rhino reserve as well as going into Pilanesberg national park with the animals able to move freely between both areas. The room we stayed in was excellent, it was very spacious, the showers (inside and outside) were good and the hot-tub was also enjoyable to sit in. The pool was also next to a watering hole which animals would come to on occasion, with us seeing Impala there during our stay. The food served was all very tasty and the chef chatted with us a few times to check that we were enjoying the food and to see if there was anything he could do to improve our stay. My partner requested warthog which was then served that night while the following evening, the chef made me a custom starter (butternut squash ravioli) due to me being vegetarian. Additionally, the staff were all very attentive and ensured that if there was anything we wanted or needed, it was done for us. Overall, it was an excellent stay that we both very much enjoyed with our only complaint being that we had to go home and couldn't stay longer. We plan to come back on a future trip to South Africa, whenever that may be.

Our only issue is that it was raining heavily on the day we arrived which made us unsure how the game drives would be and if we'd see much or if the animals would be sheltering from the rain instead and we'd be unable to find them. Despite this, we went on the drive that evening, the rain stopped and we saw a number of animals along with a wonderful sunset. It was similar the next morning as there had been a thunderstorm overnight with it raining as we went out but again, the rain cleared up quickly and we ended up having the best game drive of our stay that morning due to seeing some of the rarer animals (cheetah and serval cat).

Saw all the game including big 5 driving only short distances.very experienced and knowledgeable guide. Rooms larger and comfortable. The food quality and variety excellent. Very friendly staff. Family of maybe more than 30 elephants visited and drank from our pool at least 3 times a day, wonderful experience.

Prachtige locatie in het privé gedeelte van Pilanesberg. Wat een verzorging! Goed eten, mooie kamer, goede game drives!

The staff -including the game drivers are extremely welcoming and friendly. They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.

I had the most special birthday stay ath this safari lodge. The team surprised me with a beautifully decorated room and a birthday cake at dinner, which made me so happy. The staff were incredibely kind and attentive throughout my stay. Such a memorable expeience. I wish i could have stayed more. I highly recommend it!

The view from my view wasn't as beautiful as the room.
