Waterside Retreat With Hot Tub

Location itself is nice & peaceful.

Cleanliness of the lodge was not great. Also check in time was running late. This wasn’t good as made us late for a wedding. Lodge was nice but not worth the price we paid. I would rate it 2/3 star.

The grounds were lovely and the on site restaurant very good. The site was very quiet and peaceful although we did go during school term time so will probably be different during the high season.

We booked a three night stay and when making the booking specifically booked a lodge with a hot tub. On arrival we were extremely disappointed with the hot tub. Only a quarter of the jets were working and even on full power these were not powerful. We tried to turn the other jets on using the round dials on the top of the hot tub but one of the dials was missing and the others did not turn at all. In addition the hot tub was set at 40 degrees and we were unable to turn it down as the controls seemed to be locked at this temperature which was far too hot to be comfortable. We were therefore forced to leave the hot tub and report this to reception. We were told that a member of staff would fix the hot tub and to be fair a person arrived quite quickly and confirmed the issue with the jets and then left. We were not informed of anything for the rest of the day and I had to go back to reception the following morning (our last day) and ask what was happening. I was told that the hot tub was fixed and should be working correctly. Later that afternoon I went to go back to the hot tub and although some of the jets that had not been working previously were now working they were not powerful and some of the jets in the bottom of the hot tub had very little flow of water coming out of them at all. We were both extremely disappointed as this was one of the main reasons for booking we both feel that the amount we paid for the lodge was not worth what we received. We also informed the reception that on our arrival at the lodge we were greeted by a dog poo bag full of dog poo at the side of the steps into the lodge. When we left it was still there so I'm not sure whether the staff expected us to clean this up! E mail sent to manager of site and it took two phone calls to her to get a reply which was disappointing just stating that the hot tub had been fixed when we were there and the pressure can not be expected to be strong with all jets working. Very disappointed.

We felt that there could have been more care with the cleaning. The cooker was dirty, there was grease running down the back of the cooker hood. Very dusty.

It was very spacious inside and out and fixtures and fittings seemed to be of good quality. Hot tub was lovely and the position of our lodge was great as some of the others felt a little too close together. Nice on site bar and restaurant and good location for us. Overall very clean

Some of the walls & furniture had staining on them from previous occupants. This wouldn’t have been too much of an issue for us but as they had taken a £200 damages deposit we felt a bit on edge considering the lodges weren’t in perfect condition to begin with. Hot tub felt like it needed a bit of tlc as only some of the jets worked. Our biggest issue was the fact our lodge didn’t have working WiFi. We call to reception and their advice was to use one of the neighbouring lodges wifi which wasn’t ideal but we gave it a try (without success). On the next day we called the reception again to ask them to try and sort it but nothing was done. When travelling with 2 kids (10 & 13) having access to WiFi (we had no phone network either) was pretty important so it did let the place down a bit for us.

Lovely location so peaceful

Only 1 seat in the hot tubs had jets working properly. WiFi didn’t work at all within the lodge. The kitchen floor didn’t seem as though it had been cleaned before we arrived our feet were sticking to the floor.

The lodge was lovely, clean and spacious. All reception staff and staff at jj's were helpful and friendly. Go to this site at least 3 times a year perfect location and always have a lovely time.
