Nature Glow Cottage

Nature Glow Cottage has undoubtedly been the best stay we've had in the past four months of travelling around Asia. Within the first 30 minutes of our arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles, a refreshing and delicious juice, and the delightful surprise of spotting various animals, including monkeys, an owl, a mongoose, and squirrels. The kindness, the smiles, the hospitality, the accommodation, swimming with our host in the river at the back of the property and exploring their gardens, seeing different plants and fruit trees—it was incredible. - The room was clean, well equipped with comfortable beds, AC was great as well as the mosquito net. Hot water was also a plus! - Highly recommend having breakfast and dinner. The hosts are exceptional cooks and overindulge you with true Sri lankan food. You can also go in the kitchen and see how food is made (unfortunately, we ran out of time) - The porch area is so tranquil in the middle of a little jungle with comfy seating and even a small added touch of an animal book so you can read through for your Safari and after spotting animals in front of your room. - Hosts can also organise safaris for you at a reasonable cost. We only wish we could have spent more time here.

- Is quite out of the way so having your own transport is handy but if not the hosts are more than happy to help organise transport for you! Totally worth it for the tranquillity.

We usually never write any commentary but we could not pass through this paradisiac place! The family of Nature Glow Cottage is so friendly… and received us as a member of their family. We were invited to their son’s birthday, then cooked with them and visited their beautiful garden. The room is very clean, with AC and all you need. The beds are very confortable and they give you everything you should need. The best homestay of Sri Lanka for sure!!!

This was the most amazing homestay we ever stayed at. The whole family just went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We could join in the kitchen to learn more about making traditional food and were even invited to the New Year celebration. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka and the room was extremely comfortable. They also organized a great safari for us with a great guide at a very fair price. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Everything was amazing.

We hardly ever score 10 out of 10, but these owners were (it has been mentioned before) very lovely, attentive and great fun to talk to. And then we didn't even mention the great cooking they did and the chance we had to join them in the kitchen! We were unlucky to only have one night. Besides from this, the spacious room and facilities are in a great shape: good shower, good airco, nice beds, a great balcony with (yes, there is only place for one ... 😉) very comfy chair! And the location, in the middle of their own piece of jungle .. Just lovely! We forgot something when we left, but they immediately called and he even brought it with his motorcycle to the car we were in ... All the service. So very much recommended. They have only two rooms, so you are lucky if you can book here.

The Nature Glow Cottage was a perfect launching pad for my Udawalawe safari, which the Owner also organized for me upon my arrival. The staff were attention to my every need, while also ensuring to leave me with my own space. and the property grounds were a delight to walk around. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and it was great to having with real local food, all the food was make by the owner and his wife, Super delicious. The property and my experience was pretty perfect. Absolutely loved our night here - beautiful hotel and grounds - a real relaxing retreat! Such a shame that it was a quick 1 night stopover as would love to have spent more time here. Thanks a lot to Nalaka for the support in organizing our trip and the great safari! We did a last minute change to our itinerary with a suggestion by our guide, Vishal. And it turned out to be the best decision we made on this trip. Nature Glow Cottage in Uduwalawa, Sri Lanka is a hidden gem that exceeded all expectations. The first thing that captivated us was the mesmerizing view of the river and lush nature that surrounds the property. Waking up to the serene sounds of the river and the vibrant colors of the flora was truly a surreal experience. The culinary journey at Nature Glow Cottage was equally unforgettable. The delicious local food served here is a gastronomic delight. From traditional Sri Lankan dishes bursting with flavors to fresh, exotic fruits, every meal was a treat for the taste buds. What truly sets this place apart is the over-the-top hospitality of the host, Nalaka and his wife. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care for the guests make you feel like you're part of the family. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. Nature Glow Cottage is more than just accommodation; it's an immersive experience in the heart of Sri Lanka's natural beauty, culture, and hospitality. I can't recommend it enough to anyone seeking a tranquil retreat with a touch of local charm.

Super starting point to make a safari. The environment there is incredibly beautiful and relaxing and feels like being in the middle of paradise. The hosts were very eager to make our stay enjoyable. And the food… the food was so delicious!

Everything was perfect

I would not like to share this cool secret place with anyone, but the owner asked me to leave a review. A wonderful family of very kind people lives here. Therefore, I would not like people with an exclusively consumer attitude to come here, but let's hope that the one who reads this review is not a bad person. The place is located far from the main intersections, in the wilderness of the village, respectively, there are no tourist touts, and heaps of pestering toukers, but just very quiet and beautiful. The houses are very cozy, well renovated, the rooms are bright, spacious and with high ceilings. The houses themselves are in the shade of tall various trees: mangoes, coconuts, jackfruits, lemons and tangerines also grow, and everything else. Small monkeys sometimes walk through the trees, but they are cultured and timid, small water lizards live in the stream. In the lowlands near the houses there is a streamlet. There is a small clean river at the back of the plot. Simple small shops with fruits and household needs are within walking distance here. If you need to get to Cargills or to the Wine shop, then the owner is always ready to let you down if he is free, you can also order a PickMe, of course, I myself sometimes went by bus for 60 rupees. I have eaten a lot of places in Sri Lanka, but without hypocrisy I can say that the hostess here cooks perfectly. The food is always fresh, the portions for one are even excessively large. Here they can really cook European food normally, without any masala and not spicy. Fried or stewed chicken with a side dish and with a fresh vegetable salad was always served to me here, if I had asked, they would have served beef (well, I think you know that it's a little inappropriate in Sri). It is undoubtedly better to take food from the owners, because for this money in the cafes of Udavalava, you will not find such quality. Wi-Fi is stable, the connection is fiber-optic.
