Atha Safari Resort & Riverside Camping

From first contact when we booked we had excellent communication and arranged a safari day through their service . We were welcomed with a cold juice to a Clean and well presented lodge with an en-suite outdoor bathroom which was unique and a first for me, the aircon worked brilliantly and so did the wifi The beds had insect nets and there’s a fridge in the room too There are hammocks outside the lodges and the sound of the river was calming The resort is well maintained with nice gardens We planned a whole day safari trip and we had a packed breakfast and lunch with us for the trip The National park is a short drive from the accommodation Our guide was excellent We had a jeep to ourselves We had a picture guide book of all the park animals and binoculars which helped see some of the rarer birds clearly We were able to see elephants, monkeys, water buffalo, crocodile, turtles, deer, mongoose, lizard, owl, kite, changeable eagles, serpent eagle, bee eaters, peacocks, toucan, kingfishers, jungle fowl, and hoopoe (beautiful little bird) Excellent day out and really enjoyed it We had dinner at the accommodation They catered well for vegan diet and provided an excellent spread The owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable

Everything!! One of the best and quiet place for us in land of Sri Lanka !! Recomand 300% !! Owner and his family are so friendly and servant! Food is incredible and fully ! Thanks for this amazing Time

Beautifully built resort with great meals and a passionate owner. But what was the best is the safari that they organized: we have a feeling that we saw many more different species of animals than other jeeps. These animals were swiftly chased, pointed, and described by the driver/guide!

We thought we would swim in the river, but it turned out rather dirty. Also, "lake view" should be renamed to something more accurate.

Wir haben als dreiköpfige Familie mit unserer fünfjährigen Tochter zwei wunderschöne Tage im Atha Safari Resort verbracht. Das Grundstück ist sehr schön gestaltet, besonders der Flusslauf, durch den man waten kann, war ein Highlight für uns und unsere Tochter – eine tolle Möglichkeit, die Natur direkt zu erleben. Asanka war unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er hat uns geduldig jede Frage beantwortet und uns bei der Organisation einer Safari unterstützt. Die dreistündige Safari (44.000 Rupien) war für uns mit kleinem Kind genau die richtige Wahl. Der Guide war äußerst kenntnisreich und hat uns viel über die Tierwelt und die Umgebung erzählt. Wir hatten das Glück, viele Elefanten, Krokodile, Wasserbüffel, Schakale und eine beeindruckende Vielfalt an Vögeln zu sehen. Insgesamt können wir das Atha Safari Resort wärmstens empfehlen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war sehr gut. Die Natur, die Tierbeobachtungen und der freundliche Service haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

We loved the location right by the river that you can pop into for a little dip (definitely recommend, such a wonderful experience!). The whole resort has been lovingly designed and build by owner Atha and the attention to detail really shows. We stayed in the kind room and it was spacious with an AC and a private bathroom with an open shower overlooking the jungle. The family cooked up a massive spread for dinner and breakfast consisting of a variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes that we absolutely loved.

The pillows were a bit dirty. The safari we had booked through them was very entertaining but our guide could have provided more information about the wildlife we encountered.

We stayed in Atha Safari for 2 nights with our kids and we were thrilled by the place. First of all the garden is beautiful and very well maintained with huge hammocks and with a little pool, where our kids were having a great time. The resort is located in the sleepier part of Udawalawe, so you can see the jungle with monkeys around. After sitting on a jeep for 4 hours safari it's really nice to splash into the river right next to the garden. The bungalow has everything you need, the outside bathroom is fun and what was highly appreciated by us, that every bungalow has its own boiler full with hot water!!:) Solar energy didn't work well at other accommodations during our trip because of rainy days...:(
