"Amazing place in touch with nature"

9.0

We loved this property in the middle of no where just surrounded by nature! The couple that own the place are so accommodating and would do anything for you. Food was delicious

We didn’t mind but if you don’t like bugs and wildlife maybe this is not the place for you.

"Be careful with this one"

3.0

I did a lot of online research before our trip to Sri Lanka. We chose this homestay primarily because of the treehouse accommodation. I had a romantic idea about staying in a treehouse in the jungle and the photos looked good. Isanka has done a good job of building a wooden treehouse. In the morning it is lovely to hear so many different birds. Isanka lit a fire each evening by plus mosquito repellent lamps around the treehouse which was appreciated.

We stayed in the upstairs room of the treehouse. There was nobody downstairs on our first night. Isanka has transitioned to a solar power solution but it is not enough to power the room. By this I mean the fan and charging our phones. The solar power ran out just before 2am and this meant no fan until the morning. The room has very little ventilation so it was extremely hot and humid and uncomfortable. We had to use the torches on our phones to go to the bathroom as there was no power. On the second night there was a couple downstairs. We realised there is no soundproofing between the two rooms and we could hear everything they said (and we imagine this was the same for them even though we tried to be quiet). This was all bearable except for the fact that us and the other couple did not go on safaris on the same day, so on the day of their safari we heard their alarm clock go off at 5 and heard them getting ready. So we were awake from 5am too. If you are a light sleeper then this one is not for you. With regard to the power, on the second night both rooms were now drawing from the same source of solar power. Needless to say, the power ran out before 10pm. So neither room had fans for the whole night and it was not pleasant sleeping in the heat and humidity. Neither room was able to charge their phones either as there was no power. The other couple were distressed about this as they were going on their safari that day and wanted to take photos of course. We were Inconvenienced as we use our phones for ordering PickMe and for Google maps and Google Translate. Now we get to the topic of hot water. There is none. I did give Isanka and Eranda some feedback and said that if they advertise hot water on the booking.com website then they should provide it, otherwise some travellers may have a problem with this. We didn’t mind cold showers but not everyone would feel that way.

"Lovely staff!"

8.0

Location is amazing, and also the couple running the place are really lovely! Super helpful, making us feel comfortable. They made us a delicious dinner and organised our safari.

If you are a couple like us and want to go to the safari, maybe it’s better if you go to the entrance of the park and ask if you can join another jeeps as it might be a bit expensive.

"Very good"

8.0

The treehouse is super nice located. It feels like you are in the middle of the jungle. The owners are nice and helpful. The location is super quiet. We 10/10 recommend to stay there!

There is no WiFi en electricity isn’t always available. We didn’t bother, because that comes with the location. But you mind want to keep that in mind.

"Great stay when visiting Wilpattu National Park!"

9.0

Very friendly family who are really helpful and want to show you around. Booked our safari through them. Hut is basic but with the mosquito net it is everything you need. Good Sri Lankan food. Close to the park.

"Lovely stay in the wilderness"

10.0

Amazing location, the family is super friendly and helps with everthing. We even got a little guided walk to the lake by their son. The food was amazing, the safari for wilpattu was also arranged by them.

You should expect no air conditioning and no power at night.

"Beautiful stay in nature"

9.0

Beautiful place to stay in nature and close to the entrance of the National Park. Would highly recommend!

Nothing major, but it is good to know that the elektricity is only turned on at night and the road to the resort is a little shaky. But still highly worth the money!

"Superb"

9.0

Wilpattu Jungle Resort is a small family run business situated in a quiet area just 6-7km out of town. There are two rooms in the tree house (one upstairs & one downstairs). We stayed in the upstairs room which was very hot during the day but actually quite chilly at night (possibly ask for an extra sheet before you go to bed). This is a great place to stay if you like peace & quiet & very basic accomodation (which we do). The family are wonderful and exceptionally friendly and helpful. Dinner was basic but very good. The entrance to Wilpattu National Park is only a few km away and the family can arrange a safari too. Come and stay and enjoy the hospitality of this lovely family.

Just a note: no electricity here apart from the generator which the family will put on for an hour or two in the evening - if in doubt be sure to charge up your items before arrival. A minor thing - we were charged extra for a cup of tea in the morning (would have thought this would have been included in the cost of our breakfast)! No soundproofing between rooms but this shouldn’t be a problem as anyone who comes to stay here is likely coming to enjoy the quietness of their surroundings.

"Tranquility and peace in a unique and magical jungle setting."

10.0

Amazing location in the middle of the jungle. The morning bird chorus is the best I've heard in the world. A serene and very peaceful location - didn't hear a single vehicle noise during my 3 night stay. Erantha and Ishanka, the very friendly and helpful owners, provide excellent meals, focussing on organic local produce, often from the garden in the 'resort'. Lovely walk to the nearby lake, and close to the Wilpattu National Park main entrance (requires a vehicle, which the owners can organise). We were also given a delicious picnic hamper for our full day park safaris. Cannot wait to return.
