"Great place to relax."

Character old lodge with beautiful mountain views and great food. Good value for money.

Booked room not available at check-in but the upgraded apartment was very nice and quiet.

"Scenic sojourn in the tea plantations of Mulanje."

8.0

Wonderful location right in amongst the tea plantations that one could wander through at leisure and meet the friendly locals from the nearby village. Beautiful views of Mulanje Mountain from the secluded well-kept garden. Loved the pool for a refreshing dip after the long drive from the south. Really comfortable bed and pillows in a spacious bedroom. Friendly welcome and introductory tour by the manager. Very pleasant to be able to eat outside in the garden and read on the shaded veranda.

The shower was excellent quality but if the cubicle had been tiled it may have given a better impression. The evening meal for 26$ was somewhat disappointing but perhaps we just caught a bad night as it was almost rainy season.

"Good stop on the way to and from the border."

8.0

It was close to the Mozambique border. Relaxed, informal atmosphere. Restaurant meals were large.

Restaurant was expensive. The name was a bit deceptive and the website inferred it was busier than it was and that it is a centre for backpackers.

"Second time staying here and will definitely come back again"

Beautiful garden area, small playground and pool for the kids and amazing view. Food is spectacular.

Bathroom is a little tight and beds are on the small side

Wonderful lodge in the tea plantation. Very serene. Ok but very pricey food. It's not value for money

Nothing except the plantation. You basically have to eat at the lodge.

"On a month tour of Malawi this stay was the worst value for money"

7.0

Its very well situated for climbing Mount Mulanje which we hoped to do: unfortunately our arrival coincided with two days of continuous rain. Our accommodation in an old library was exceedingly spacious, clean and comfortable and included a kitchen. The two evening meals we had were both Italian themed and of excellent quality, which to be honest, was to be expected considering what was being charged for them.

Although our accommodation included a kitchen, it contained no cooking utensils, crockery or cutlery. Rather pointless really. We had enjoyed our stay, but settling our bill left an extremely sour taste. We had been drinking Malawi Gin in the evenings (where it was un-priced in what served as the bar) and anticipated paying a similar price to everywhere else we had stayed. We were horrified to find we were being charged $US 4 a shot. (It sells in Blantyre for $US 5.50 a bottle.) As I reluctantly payed our bill I expressed our strong feelings that we had been ripped off. Overall the stay was NOT good value for money

"Exceptional"

Rooms were nice and clean, food was delicious and great views of the mountain. The staff were also friendly and efficient. They made us a packed lunch for our hike which was great.

Quite far from the start of hiking trails but worth it to have nice accommodation. Food is quite expensive but also the potion sizes are huge, we started sharing 1 dinner between 2 people and that was perfect.
