Lakeside Villa

I loved the architecture and the lanndscaping which included a lake, and an enclosed courtyard garden with mosaic walkways. I was happy to have no TV and many lovely places to sit and read! My room was super comfortable. The bed was so relaxing and I could heat the mattress for maximum comfort.

The grounds are amazing, the house is huge and I was allowed to explore anywhere. The wild life was beautiful, and there was a lovely lake to watch sunsets and sun rises. Each room has a private balcony overlooking either the garden square or man made pond.

There were p hairs on the shower wall, cobwebs all over the walls and doors, the jets bath tub was filthy with a thick film and algae, same with the sauna water bucket. No key was provided for my room, and when I locked myself out of my room, no one was around to help unlock. I ended up showing up to one of my meetings in runny clothes instead of my intended professional outfit. Neither Vera or Stephen seemed happy to have me, and immediately started talking badly about the last guests. The phones didn't work, and with no cell reception I was literally off grid. The wifi worked, until it was the day of my departure. At 8 am the wifi cut even though the check out wasn't until noon. No coffee or tea was even offered let alone breakfast. Their hours of quiet are 10pm-10am but they had the tv on loud until 11pm the first night (which could be heard throughout the extensive house), and the next night started playing piano at 10pm. Both morning people were yelling profanities by 8am. The moments of quiet were nice, but no amenities. It felt like an Airbnb but with a host that wishes you weren't there. I ended up leaving before 10 am, I felt so weird. Finally, there are no signs of where you are going, so you are likely to get lost and drive into the wrong people's drive. But the neighbors are super sweet and helpful.

Beautiful, tranquil location just 15 minutes outside of Cottage Grove. A mother goose on her nest, ducks, frogs, and birds around the lake. Even though it wasn't fully spring yet, I could tell how beautiful the garden is, especially the hand created mosaic in the middle. Steve played wonderful classic piano in the mid-afternoon and then walked us around the house to see the aviary, conservatory, dining room, etc. Absolutely fantastic! A great night's sleep!

I felt like I was staying in a “little castle”. It was amazing! everything was perfect!

There is nothing to improve!

Been here before. Loved it then. Loved it again.

There is no TV if you're looking for a TV.

Great serene location! Lots of property and would be great for kids!
