Pension Tomato

Amazing stay at Pension Tomato. Great rooms and facilities, helpful hosts and fabulous onsen to relax in after a day on the mountain (which you book so it is private). Good location too - easy walk to the shops/restaurants of Echoland and the shuttle bus to the ski fields.

Would be great if a basic breakfast was included for those staying in the main house (just tea/coffee, toast and cereal would be fine).

Lovely place with wonderful owners. Helped us out with a ski injury, which was so kind. Would highly recommend. We also loved the on-site onsen.

Great location, bus stops, bars, restaurants and rental shops all in walking distance, staff where so lovely and accommodating, everything was so clean, the onsens where amazing

The apartment was modern and very clean with warm and comfortable bedding. We were a group of five and enjoyed having full kitchen facilities and room to eat together and relax in the evenings. It was walkable to the bus shuttles and ski rental hire. The accommodation looked out on a wooded area.

We had the most perfect stay. Everything was absolutely wonderful! After a good day of skiing, and a wonderful onsen soak, make sure you indulge in a couple of frosty draft beers! The coldest and best in town! Loved everything.

It was impeccably clean, well located and equipped, and run by the most lovely couple who served us the most wonderful dinner that we had while in Japan.

We had twin beds, not sure if this property had a double, but this would be all that would improve it. The hosts are kind, welcoming and accommodating and I highly recommend this property.

This was one of the best stays I have had in Japan. The guests were lovely and very accomodating. They made us feel right at home. Their property is beatiful and nestled in the center of Hakuba, a 5 min walk from the free shuttle bus which made transport to the mountain so easy. The room was cozy and the beds were comfy. The place was very well maintained and clean with all the basic amenities you need including a coffee machine. There was a private onsen with an indoor and outdoor space with cozy views of the falling snow. It was the best thing ever to relax in after coming home from a busy day on the mountains. They also introduced to us arguably the best candies we've ever had: Lawson Mango Gummies 😂 I had a great time and would recommend the place to anyone wanting to stay in Hakuba and I hope to go back in the future.

Particular to the family unit on the second floor that we stayed in (201), it had a one way door which could be opened from the owners side but had no lock on the guest side.
