Pension Tomato

Wonderful location just setback from the main street in Echoland, with buses and shuttles to the various resorts within close walking distance. The rooms were excellent and provided us everything we needed, fitting all four of us comfortably. The private Onsens were fantastic. Warmly welcomed and helpful with all our questions. Will be staying here again when we return to Hakuba!

I had mixed feelings when we first checked it. The beds weren’t really beds but thick pads that were underneath a raised sitting area . Room was extremely small and our bathroom was across the hall . After the initial shock the place began to grow on me. The mattress pad is actually very comfortable and having the bathroom across the hall was never an issue. The onsen made this place spectacular. After a long day of skiing soaking in the hot onsen was the perfect way to end the day. The owners speak minimal English but are lovely and we never had an issue communicating- they picked us up from the train station and dropped us off at the bus station on our last day. They even made a pit stop so we could send our bags to the airport.

Wall are thin , wear the earplugs they provide !

The innkeepers are fantastic - very hospitable. They helped our family on arrival at Hakuba Station and then dropping us back via the ski rental shop. The onset in the property is fantastic. The food produced by Pension Tomato is outstanding - we highly recommend that people try the set dinner. Great value for what you get!

Nothing - it is excellent

Excellent skiing accommodation - comfy bed, full kitchen for meals (if wanting this), shower and bath, onsen was superb, tables and comfy sofas/chairs, very clean and well maintained. Location was very handy to ski buses and shops and restaurants. Host bent over backwards to help us with any info and questions.

The onsen was the highlight, perfect after a long day of skiing. Staff were so friendly and accomodating and even took us to the bus terminal on departure after I asked how to organise a taxi. Beds comfortable and convenient location.

The cottage was incredibly spacious and comfortable for our family of 5 which can be difficult to come by in Japan. Staff were only too happy to pick us up from the Hakuba Station and take us to our accomodation, return us back to the Happo bus terminal on departure and assist us to use the Takkyubin to forward our luggage back to the airport. Very friendly and accomodating. Highly recommend Pension Tomato.

Absolute hidden gem! My partner and I stayed here for 1 week and loved every bit of it. Private onsen everyday after a solid day on the slopes. Walking distance to the main street in Echoland for all restaurants, bars & ski rental shops. We had a rental car and they provided parking within 100m of the accomodation which was great. Easy access to buses if needed to all resorts as-well. Owners are probably the most kind, genuine Japanese couple I have ever met! They even got up at the crack of dawn just to say goodbye to us. We will be back again, Thanks!
