Kings Grant Country Retreat

The whole experience (from lunch, staying, supper to breakfast) was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I am already planning my next visit.

Serene gardens full of bird life. Beautiful monetary museum with old bells ringing adding to the feeling of peaceful surroundings.

Rooms could use bigger warmer heaters and be dusted / refreshed before arrival

Very comfortable large room with fireplace (an upgrade - thankyou) Historical and very tranquil property Attention to detail and service by the owner and their staff The extensive grounds, including the small Chapel Tour of the old mill and foundry - very interesting Very good dinner and breakfast

Lack of signage on dirt road leading to the property (Google maps tried to get us to take a non existing road to the property which was a bit disconcerting)

The chalets/villas are stunning. Countryside living, amazing sunsets and sunrises

Unfortunately as beautiful as the location is, as great as the restaurant is and as great the hotel staff were. I will not be staying there again because of the Manager (Caucasian lady). The Manager (Caucasian lady) absolutely horrific, worst customer service ever especially to a customer whose credit card details you have already and who even made an effort to come and settle a night before checkout. Verbally and racially abusive manager, and charged almost 1.5x the original bill, at the time I didn't care I just wanted to pay and leave and go to the other hotel I had completely booked out (Belz Boutique Hotel). Yes my guests checked in at 11pm when the reception had closed, and when I was called about the matter i stated I'm on my way to settle everything politely I was still treated like a criminal, even asked if I had enough money. I know for a fact this experience would not have happened to anyone else. I would not recommend my worst enemy from being subjected to such vitriol. I cannot believe that my guests who had come for a wedding were treated that way especially since I booked and my credit card details were held and that I had to leave my wedding dinner to settle a bill 1 night before checkout. The attitude of the manager really needs adjusting, even when I arrived the abuse and vitriol continued. The hotel and restaurant staff were great.

The location & setting is beautiful. The hosts are really friendly & go the extra mile. We had exceptional food whilst there from pizzas made in the pizza oven to wonderful homemade sour dough bread to scrumptious cheesecake made on site. Lianne is chef trained & has worked in a Michelin star restaurant before. The historical element is a hugely interesting factor & there are beautiful walks to go on & many quiet spots to read in. The energy of the place is so peaceful & relaxing. Pops of orange aloes & strelitzia punctuate the landscape. We'll definitely be back!
