Stayed here specifically for the Tugela Falls and Amphitheatre hike since lodge is a mere 30 mins very bad dirt road drive to reach the Sentinel Carpark. Surprisingly, the road after the barrier gate are remarkably well paved in the form of bricks! You have to pay 90/ pp for Northern Drakensberg Conservation Fee. Best to have the exact cash ready in case they lose connection for card payments or change. Remember to ask for receipts so the money really go towards conservation! We had paid the shuttle fee (320/ pp return) online beforehand. Since our shuttle to the carpark was 6 AM, the staff had our packed breakfast (sandwich, bar, banana, apple, egg, peanuts) ready by 5.45 AM. In order to hike, we paid another 145/ pp for the Northern Drakensberg Hiking Permit. Ask for a receipt for this as well. Room was comfortable but that is the minimum to be expected given the price tag. We didn't buy their dinner; we ordered a pizza at Debonairs in Mandela Park, Phuthaditjhaba, before coming up.

There are quite a number of other fees as i've written above if you plan to hike to Tugela. The lodge has monopolised the area, so there is not much to do about the very bad road to Sentinel Carpark. We saw two SUV parked at the carpark, but the road is really not worth the tension. Anyway, most visitors hike Tugela at most once.

Nous avons fait plusieurs lodges beaucoup moins chers et de confort trés ́nettement superieur.Le propio semble profiter de la non concurence pour forcer les prix.En plus il faut une taxe d’entree pour acceder au lodge et une autre pour acceder au trek.Le chauffage clim fait beaucoup de bruit et ne chauffe pas bien.Un radiateur hors service !Deux gels douches et pas de gel corps.Terrasse moisie de verdure- Retour landry pas sec - Nous voyageons beaucoup: à prix modére nous acceptons un confort standart; on met tres souvent 10 sur 10 et sommes pas sifficile ; c’esr le rapport qualité prix qui nous apparait anormal

Views were what we went for. Breakfast was Ok. Toasted sandwiches are excellent. Staff were very willing and helpful and attended to any problems or questions immediately. We fleetingly saw two lammergeiers, or bearded vultures. A special treat.

The main dishes in the restaurant require a little more training. they're good, but could be better. For example, too much salt on the lamb chops and well done not medium.

Best place to stay if you are climbing Tugela Falls. Great food and staff, amazing views.

Vynikajúca poloha, krásne horské prostredie Drakensbergu. Výhodný začiatočný bod pre výstup na vrchol vodopádu Tugela. Izby čisté, raňajky boli veľmi dobré, dali sme si aj večeru, tiež bola výborná.

Zle tesnili okná v drahšom apartmáne. V noci bol veľmi silný vietor a prefúkavalo aj do vnútra. Cesta na parkovisko Sentinel je v katastrofálnom stave. Pred 12 rokmi sme tam išli bez problémov v osobnom aute. Teraz je potrebné 4x4 a pteto sme si museli platiť drahý odvoz terénnym autom. Nechápem, že ak stále vyberajú poplatky za vstup, nevedia udržiavať prístupovú cestu.
