For the price this is an excellent choice for the budget traveler. The owners are a super nice accomodating couple and the service we had while there was great. The rooms have an outstanding view of Drake Bay. Sheets were changed daily and the room was cleaned. We did a trip to Corcovado National Park and the owner even did our dirty wet laundry for us. Daily yummy breakfast for 7$. They even arranged a deep sea fishing trip for us. All about expectations. Is this an upscale vacay resort? Nope. Is it a nice budget option for the adventurous traveler in the real Costa Rica? You bet! Pura Vida!

Well....you don't get those great views for nothing. As others have mentioned there are approx 150 steps up, and I mean up to the rooms. By the end of the week it becomes a bit of a chore. If you have any kind of mobility issues keep looking, this just wouldn't work for you.

Incredible setting for a visit to Drake bay, it is quite a mission to walk up to from the town but absolutely worth it for the views and wildlife that wanders around the property. Will definitely stay here again.

Great location, breathtaking views of the Ocean, super-kind owner

We were not very lucky during our stay (beginning of August). It rained heavily constantly and we only had about 4 hours without rain in 4 days! The view from the room would have been incredible but, because of the rain, the water was brown and we didn't get to see any nice sunsets. We didn't go swimming and couldn't do any activities (all were cancelled anyways due to weather). We did walk up to the lookout once and the view was breathtaking, even despite the rain.

Compared to the pictures of the rooms on the website, ours was very outdated, the sheets were old, and the bathroom was not inviting. The beds were not very comfortable, the safe was rusty and hard to use. Be aware that there are a lot of stairs uphill to go up to the hotel (we counted 125 steps to our room and we were not the highest).
